Devourer Shaman – Talent Tree Concept for Midnight

Hello everyone,

I would like to share my idea for a new Shaman talent concept that could fit the darker atmosphere of World of Warcraft: Midnight.

The idea is a Devourer Shaman, a shaman who draws power from devoured spirits and corrupted elemental energy.

Instead of only controlling the elements, this Shaman absorbs the energy of defeated enemies and transforms it into destructive power.

Core Theme
The Devourer Shaman gains power when enemies die nearby. Their abilities grow stronger by consuming spirit energy.

Example Abilities

  1. Soul Devour
    Drains spirit energy from an enemy and grants Devour stacks that increase damage.

  2. Voidstorm Totem
    Summons a dark totem that creates a vortex of lightning and void energy, damaging enemies in the area.

  3. Spirit Collapse
    Summons spirits of fallen enemies that explode after a short delay, dealing heavy AoE damage.

  4. Devouring Chain Lightning
    A corrupted chain lightning that steals life energy from each enemy it hits.

  5. World Hunger (Ultimate)
    Opens a void portal that pulls enemies inward and consumes their spirit energy.

Visual Design
The Devourer Shaman would have:

  • Dark ritual armor with bones and skulls

  • Void and spirit energy effects (purple, teal, dark blue)

  • Totems shaped like skulls or spirit rifts

  • Glowing eyes and ghostly spirits surrounding the character

I also created a concept image to visualize the idea.

What do you think about a darker Shaman specialization or talent theme like this?

Yeah no thanks!

Might work as an additional hero tree to choose from but would likely be far down the line of what shaman players wish lists. I do think it would be cool to be able to aesthetically be a more dark, blood and voodoo focused but id not want it to be void leaning.

Personally I want new shaman races as a priority

The ability to use a 2h weapon as enhancement

Potential for a shaman tank to be properly explored and implemented.

Remove useless aug evoker spec and make as this one.

Like a dark shaman? A dark shaman still uses regular elements, they just forced the elements to their will rather than bargaining.

Void doesn’t suit the shaman class. The part about spirits and the aesthetic after abilities sounds more like hex magic from the Vilebranch. In which case, it would be called a hex-lord. Doing away with the void stuff, I wouldn’t mind hex-lord as a hero tree name, but I feel it would suit affliction warlock beter.
