I am trying out DH since I want to get into a melee spec, after having played my Mage primarily so far. And I thought DH seemed like a cool choice.
However I seem to struggle quite a bit in PvP, while I noticed others don’t…? It isn’t really my damage I’m having issues with, it’s the “surviving” that I struggle with.
I have talented every “self-healing/damage reduction” talent I can find, and still it feels like every fight is a “dps check”.
Let’s take Monk for example. It has healing spells, amazing defensive CDs, LOTS of utility, and mobility… I feel like it has every toolkit there is to survive.
But DH has Blur, Darkness, some leech, and orbs that sometimes spawn… DH can’t even use mobility as a “surviving tool” to kite, since we need to attack to heal…
Is DH just supposed to “kill as fast as possible before you die”? Or is there a trick to it that I’m missing?
But yeah, DH do are actually quite squishy, even if most Forum posters dont really want to see it that way.
Its just the nature when you have the second worst armor class in the Game alongside low leech. The main surviving parts are during The Hunt + Metamorphosis where you can heal for a lot and Fodder procs, but if you have no Blur up you will die super fast.
Yes but monk have overall much less healing than dh… For full energy and fullcast in 8s you heal for ~50% of your hp while dh just dont loose any hp while it can hit and fogger restores nearly full hp by each proc.
Monk with dh and dru are the most mobile classes in the game. Mobility is not problem for dh at all. Its one of the strongest pros of dhs.
Once upon a time armor type mattered. Now its not an argument at all. While hunter, shaman (elem especially) and devoker are the squishiest classes in the game while being mail and wlock with spriest are cloth… I wont even complain about plate dks and paladins who are much easier kill targets than wlock and sp.
Who have high leech? Fury warriors? Blizz are nerfing dh and fury healing not without reason.
Currently dh is on of the hardest kill targets in the game. You will disappoint very hard if you try monk that you mentioned above as example with good survability. Dhs are very vulnerable to stuns but current healing is too much if you can hit. It wont be actual since tomorrow but its another talk.
You took out a small out of context part here though. You can’t just take 2 words out of a whole paragraph and “make that what I said”.
This was my point about that whole section:
So the mobility point wouldn’t matter right? Is DH just gonna run off and die behind a rock?
Atleast Warrior now has Second Wind which heals them a butt load whenever they are out of combat, so kiting has now become a valid strat, since they have healing that isn’t based on hitting their target. DH however is still required to do so.
And I also mentioned this as one of my main concerns:
Which you don’t address? What I’m gathering so far from your reply is still the same conclusion I wrote in my original post, where I said I was worried about “how they survive/self-heal”.
You talk about “DH having more healing than Monk”, but that won’t matter if I have no control over my healing. Sure they have more healing IF they are able to land their hits, but monk has so much more utility and defensive CDs than DH, to make up for the lower healing.
Like… We are talking stupid amounts of utility and CDs in comparison And again, I was just using Monk as an example. If we take (as an example) Shaman, we also have another class that I’m pretty sure massively outheals DH.
I don’t know… Maybe DH is just more meant towards people who like a very aggressive playstyle, with less focus on spells and combos that are more “survivability focused”.
just play rogue honestly, then you have huge DMG, amazing mobility, best defensives in the game (outside of bubble), stealth that comes with god self healing on low CDs
Does Rogue have any sort of knockback effect? Anything that can be used to push people off cliff sides in WPvP? I know some classes had abilities like that added in DF, but I’m not sure about Rogue.
any class that plays as the kultiran humans can also have a knockback, also evoker only has a small knockback in the form of the earth thingy, but that also roots.
Think hunter means the dracthyr racial.
Yeah I did think about Kultiran. But it’s on a 2min CD and require playing a Kultiran hehe. I decided on giving Monk a shot since it now has Mighty Ox Kick, which yeets players a pretty far distance.
If you mean the knockback, then I answered it above ^^
its mainly because of healing effects are sustain are much higher right now ,
but no , armor is insanely important when most people you fight against are melee classes in pvp it nerf their damage very well , there is a good reason ( Inner fire ) and ( old version of demon armor ) got removed long time ago
tho if you talk from pve perspective then yeah i agree
