DH self heal gone

Hi! :slightly_smiling_face:

So I played DH in BFA and decided to come back to it in Shadowlands, but I couldn’t help but notice something…

The Insatiable Hunger talent (if I remember the name correctly), used to give healing in BFA when you picked up the orbs generated from Chaos Strike, but now it just gives Fury…?

So am I correct in that we only have our 10% leech now for self healing? Or does the talent description just not mention the healing effect from the orbs?

DH only has 2 defensive CDs, and I know we also have cov abilities and meta to help with better leech, but it just feels extremely gutted to take away the “orb healing” talent. Like… the equivalent of taking away Heart Strike from DK hehe.

Am I missing something? Maybe a conduit or legendary that gives us back self healing?

Thanks!

Nevermind! (Gomlok here)

Apparently they made the self heal from orbs baseline instead of putting it in a talent  Which is only better than the BFA version. So in case anyone else needs to figure this out, I’ll keep my post up!

Our survivability was nerfed at the end of BfA.

If I recall correctly, the healing from soul fragments was reduced by 25%, which affected both specs. Vengeance is less tanky now than it was at the end of BfA, and although there are other reasons for this as well, the reduced self heal is part of it.

Havoc also used to have some leech baseline, which we lost. I used to take desperate instincts for the extra damage reduction during blur (I believe this was also nerfed at the end of BfA), but we’re now forced to either take soul rending or rely much more heavily on healers to keep us topped up.

It felt very rough to start with when I was used to being able to face tank most things (as havoc), but I think it’s forced me to become more skilled.

Havoc is squishy now, i played legion and bfa and saw Illidari at their prime, where they could not be stopped for real!

Yeah, havoc isn’t the best for survivability, you don’t really poof the orbs out even with talent, but vengeance is :star_struck: even at low gear like my toon, you can’t really notice if the heal dies during fight or dc out

Which sadly happens for some reason

Yeah I just started getting into Vengeance, and feels unstoppable! Never really liked tanking, but as DH tank I can plow through 3 times as many enemies before starting to struggle. Might actually start tanking permanently hehe

But yeah Havoc definitely feels different in SL. Still incredibly fun, but I also noticed that orbs don’t fall as frequently anymore. I mean… I made this topic because I thought orb healing was removed :joy: that’s how nerfed it is.

What I hear is that I need to work extra hard on using mobility to my advantage, and focus on Vers to help with not feeling squishy. :slightly_smiling_face:

As I was saying above, sometimes I don’t even realise the healer is not there and I have potato gear  I was always a healer back then but DH is just amazing

Btw, it was funny to see you yesterday in Dalaran, really made my day

Haha yeah that blew my mind :joy: Such a cool coincidence. Glad I captured it on stream too hehe.

the thing that makes you laugh is that all the other dps have absurd cures, only we do not have decent defensives nor cures, but blizzard knows how to do classes yes …

You know what makes me laugh? When I heal MORE than some healers in pugs…

Don’t care how much others whine, I love tanking as a DH

you’re right, but I was referring to pvp

I loved dh in bfa and legion expecialy playing against them in pvp, they always fascinated me with their tennacity in meta  Now it is different story…

the problem is that unlike the other classes we cannot choose other spec for pvp … even if the only one we have sucks I only have one thing to say good job blizzard
