People keep asking for player housing. Customisations. So many people on forums have suggested many times if they want to input gold sinks into the game. Player housing is the way to go not 5 million gold mounts.
However when you bring up player housing. Everyone brings up garrisons and how nobody liked them.
I feel like Blizz did it intentionally to kill the idea of player housing.
So when we ask for it , Blizz responds hey we did it and you guys didn’t like it.
I want player housing ,i want crafting to be more interesting. Making furniture , new recipes drops in the world . Throw some into Archeaology. Would make it very interesting.
Do you guys want it ? Even if you don’t are you opposed to the idea ? Or do you feel flat out Player housing doesn’t belong in wow go play other mmo’s ?
Nobody? Bold generalisation. I liked mine, thank you! The problem with garrisons wasn’t so much the garrisons as with WoD in general, there was little to tempt you to venture out into the world. But I loved opening mine up to all and sundry on useful days and sitting there fishing in peace and quiet at other times.
I’m indifferent to housing in general, I won’t cry if there wasn’t any, would I use it if there was some? Sure. What I would prefer though is that it wasn’t tied to an expansion though and be continually useful in some way and added to and personalised.
I have played other games with ‘player housing’ and at first I found it fun and engaging, but once I had completed the ‘decor’ I kind of lost interest. I appreciate this is just my view and I know lots of people want this feature.
I am not opposed to the idea as long as the housing is a ‘vanity’ feature and gives no benefits other than creating something unique for individuals.
I do love the idea of professions being able to craft items usable for the housing.
They did. They took something cool and then in the Blizzard fashion added grind to it.
I think theres a place for player housing and customisation. It could sedge way into professions and even get cosmetic drops from old raids and stuff. People do mog runs, why not for stuff for the home?
I would like them to add housing. And i like your ideas.
I just got my garrisons, alliance a couple a weeks ago, hordeside yesterday, and i really like having something that’s only “mine”.
But with more customitazion ect.
No mate, I think you miss the point… “nobody” is an absolute. Some people did, therefore it is an incorrect generalisation. That doesn’t exclude that some people didn’t like them and I didn’t suggest that. Logical failure.
But can you categorically state that all of those subs was down to the garrison alone? No, you can’t.
i mean look at archaeology dead profession to most. Now add antique Dwarven , highborne style furniture recipes in there. People would love it.
Have a forsaken heavy metal themed house or go decadent and have a beautiful elven home by the lakeside.
I don’t know player housing gets the imagination going. You can have pets in there aswel. Imagine a roaming nightsaber to greet you when you come in. Possibilities are endless.
you add the idea of caputing and taming pets that are not companions or used in pve /pvp. Just household pets, like a pet Axebeak in a cage you can let out and it flies about.
Aquariums with Glacial salmon swimimng in it.
Goblin lit sign posts and lighting on the outside. i can go on and on. Who wouldn’t pour gold into making a home their own.
As player housing the Garrison failed hard but it was never advertised as player housing. I would still love to see proper player housing that I can customise and gather things for in game via old and new content.
I did love my Garrison though, or at least the Alliance one which was very pleasant to spend time in. The Horde one, not so much. It would have been better suited to be placed in Gorgrond IMO.
If player housing is introduced it has to be purely optional and give no advantage in game or people will complain that they have to do it.
I loved my farm in MoP, I unlocked everything for it that I could, did all the friend rep grinds.
I could go on you could adopt children on Orphan day. The kid just stays in your house but you got him/her to say hi mom hi dad everytime.
There is so much creative possibilities here. It doesn’t need to be done all at once. Can be added with patches small additions , new things to look forward to.
Like i’m imagine right now writing this seeing a San’layn themed house. You can make it all spooky with dark rooms lit with candles. With a blood trail in the basement leading a too a sacrificial room.
Love is in the air you could have a corny , heart shaped bed with rose petals all over it.
You can have a stable with your 6 favourite mounts in there. So when people come to visit they can see which one’s you like to ride the most.
The possibilities are just insane. It doesn’t affect gameplay in anyway.
You can have like an apartment all players get access too. Then you get houses , mansions , manors , palaces as optional that cost gold. You make the really expensive one’s exclusive and limited numbers. Trust me Blizz you will those gold sinks you so desperately want in no time.
And this for me is why it becomes boring as it is a ‘set’ thing you buy. For me it would be more interesting if you bought a plot of land (the more gold you have the larger the plot you can afford) and then give the players a variety of houses to build on the plot. So some would maybe like a cottage, another a log cabin etc. but if you wanted a mansion, manor or palace type home, then you need to be able to afford the sizeable plot it would need. Also giving the option to buy further land to extend your plot.
I don’t like player housing, when there is no active use for it. ESO housing for example. In ESO it has some crafting tables and so on, but they are also in towns.
I’d say if you add player housing add somekind of passive play to it, like growing crops or herbs, so that there actually is a point visiting it.
All ideas are on the table. But it’s not to see i’m not talking nonsense. Reading the comments there seems to be interest in housing. Not all and that’s fine. Does everything have to be game have to be liked by everyone ? Nope look at pet battling it’s niche. Blizz still updates it.
I liked my garrison but what i didn’t like is how they made it mandatory questing hub.
I still visit my garrison and i still like it sure it could be better but now that that expansion is over and done i use it as my player housing as there is nothing better and i don’t trust blizzard creating anything better than that.
Only thing that i really wanted from garrison is that i could have built it like a Dwarven fortress and not again boring human castle.
Problem is that blizzard has no middle ground the housing would either be a barbie doll house with nothing but cosmetic use or it would be mandatory for raiding/pvp/m+
