Did Blizz Screw up with Dark Ranger?

they’re too busy adding furry new “race” and class that no one asked for

Miss when blizzard devs had exceptional talent and stood out, now its the opposite

So you accepted a compromise, and originally High elves were going to be apart of the Alliance in Vanilla but they replaced them with Gnomes, so it’s wrong to assume they never wanted to give players High elves.

I find this upsetting that people pay a company for a product and are not willing to fight to make the product more accommodating but instead are willing to accept compromises.

After seeing these responses, maybe its just me and maybe I should re evaluate whether I carry on playing the game as I’m getting to the point where im no longer willing to accept compromises.

This is unfortunately true. I wish they didn’t waste so much time and resources on a 1 race 1 class combo. It boggles the mind.

But on the other hand: I wouldn’t like it either if they spend those resources on a Dark Ranger class. So… It’s the same type of deal for me really: I’m getting a race/class that I won’t play.

That was before modern world of Warcraft came. I’m talking about throughout wow history Vanilla to Shadowlands high elves were almost always met with rejection, ion even replied to it in an interview saying “go play blood elves and the horde is waiting for you”

Then void elves were added, which is another slap to face to high elf fans.

If you believe they were even going to add high elves, then why didn’t they in legion? Why void elves?

As I said, let’s be thankful we even got it. I still remember the struggle we faced in asking for them and at some points I completely given up. Thanks to Visna and others on the forums who kept suggesting when I gave up, we got them.

You shouldnt have to accept compromising… as I said I will evaluate whether im willing to accept that anymore, we deserve better as a community we shouldnt be so accepting and willing to forgive so easily.

I have every single collectors edition, I never go cheap on the things I love and I always buy as much as I can to support the games I love be it cash shop or merch, it’s time I stopped and put my money elsewhere.

I swear, Elf players will never be satisfied.

But that’s the thing: For many people this isn’t a compromise.
It’s a nice extra bonus. Something we didn’t ask for, but still got.

‘The community’ is not one hive mind. There’s many different opinions and wants and needs there.

No.

I think adding a whole new class, especially one which is so similar to another class in the game, is a huge commitment for the development team. And I don’t think Dark Ranger is suitable for that commitment.

I think some of the customisations should have been more restricted to hunters. As it does just feel like a new customisation option and nothing more.

Dark Ranger is just a bit of a fad (sorry for my use of that word). Sure they’ve always been around, but they’re not really anything that special. They’ll disappear back into the darkness as the mood, story and theme of WoW moves on in the future. Just like the Night Warrior customisation did. But hey, at least the customisation is in the game now.

However, I have seen the idea of Class Skins being thrown around recently. i.e. putting new skins/themes/colours on existing classes and their abilities, so you’re not introducing a new class, just changing existing ones. And I think that is a great idea and fully support Dark Rangers in that way.

So Compromise?

Ok I get it, the playerbase has such low standards they are willingly happy to given compromises, so be it, I know where I stand and I hope they “compromise” on other classes so you know how it feels…

Tinker = Hunter with maybe a turret talent.
Spellblade = Mage mage armour look like plate.

There you go Blizz low effort work to appease your playerbase, well done.

Stop being so aggressive. No need for that.
Not everyone cares about dark rangers like you do.
And that’s fine.

and ofc you are free to be. i wasnt so hyped myself, but im happy about those enjoying it as it is. never been a dark ranger fan myself.

But i wish it would be more classes added be it dark ranger or not.

Well you’re happy to accept compromises, so why not?

It’s cheaper quicker and easier for them to slap another skin on hunter name it Tinker maybe give you a talent (Im feeling generous) and an armour Skin and you’ll be happy with that, wont you?!

I did not accept compromises, I already told you:

No. No I wouldn’t. I’d want a full fledged tinker class.
But if we never get that class I’m not going to whine and complain about it because there’s more important things to put my energy into.

Acting as if other players (what you call ‘the community’) are somehow ‘bad’ for being happy with something they’re given in a game is so weird dude. You are completely allowed to not be happy with it, but don’t try and guilt trip people into supporting your own personal feelings on this matter. And certainly don’t do it in such an aggressive manner; that’s only going to rub people the wrong way.

Anyway… You didn’t get Dark Ranger as a class. And you very likely will not get it in the future. Up to you how you want to deal with that. As is clear in this thread: Plenty of people will deal with it just fine and play with the toys they’ve been given.

Good luck with your decision.

I never said you made a compromise, I said you are willing to accept a compromise.

I don’t see how this is a bad thing…

But shame on us for not wanting your Dark Ranger class I guess.

You did. Many times.

If that’s what you meant to say, then you should’ve used those words.
But… In some cases: Sure. Yeah. I’m willing to accept a compromise.
Not always though; it depends. There’s no black and white here. There’s many shades of grey.

Nah, it only made me realize that dark rangers would be kinda boring.
