My question to you guys is Did Blizz screw up with Dark Ranger?

As far as I’m concerned I’ve wanted Dark Ranger for so long and while I adore the customisation, I feel this is a massively missed opportunity.

The least they could have done is given us cosmetic abilities to go with it but no we got 1 skin tone with 1 face and 1 eye set… So I set out on awaiting to see what they new Talents would look like, lo and behold there’s not what I expected, from what I have gleamed of the new Death Knight and Druid templates there’s maybe a few covenant choices added and I can see this style leaking into the Hunter Tree’s, so thats out.

Even if we had got a class with 1 spec that was fully fleshed out as a banshee Dark Ranger with a few races added it would have been amazing… But no.

This is massively disappointing if I’m honest and I’m disappointed in Blizz for reducing Dark Ranger to a cosplay instead of an actual thing.

C’mon, like they’d ever ever would add something… “massive” like that in a random patch and not a new expac :stuck_out_tongue:

Neber stop hoping tho - I’d love themed abilities. ALOT.

As I always say, better something than nothing.

Some People wanted Wildhammer Dwarves as a race and got customizations.

Some People wanted High elves as a race and got customizations instead.

It happens, but in my opinion it’s better than nothing. Besides pretty sure Sylvanas’s bow shoots dark/shadow arrows, just gotta farm it

I see where you are coming from, but in these cases I would have preferred they actually gave us what we wanted instead of compromises, we don’t deserve compromises we deserve better.

As for the bow sadly I can never seem to find a group for it to get the bow and it’s going to be a few years before I can actually go farm Sylvanas solo plus the Dark ranger abilities attached to that bow/quiver will be redundant by then… it’s a sad situation :frowning:

There is just no pleasing some people! Why would they put all that work in a small patch? And why would you restrict the look to one class instead of letting everyone have it?

Also this is pretty much what I wanted to you certainly don’t speak for everyone with your “we”.

We have waited this long and probably would have happily waited longer to get something with actual effort put into it, just because you are Happy cosplaying as a fake Dark Ranger doesnt mean everyone will be, not everyone has such low standards.

Imo: No they did not.

Mmmmh? No? I’ll admit the differences aren’t huge, but you can pick different faces with the skin/eye colour combo.

The talents have absolutely nothing to do with Dark Ranger customization.

Imo you were just expecting too much.

I’m glad. I never wanted the Dark Ranger as a class. It’s just too close to hunter to be its own thing and imo we have more than enough edgy classes already.

But you know… Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get some glyphs in the future that make some abilities look more Dark Ranger themed. I think such a thing is your best bet.

Is this community truly happy to receive scraps and compromises?

I was not expecting a whole new class to just be thrown into a small patch.
That’s not ‘being happy to receive scraps and compromises’, that’s ‘being realistic’.

But also; like I said… I never wanted a Dark Ranger class. So I’m not making any compromises. I like the look, but I have zero interest in ‘the class’.

From a .5 patch = yes.
Nothing big ever comes in a minor patch.

How do you know what I’m happy with?

My character is a fake High elf I would probably prefer real high elves but you know what it’s whatever at this point…

If you represent such a large portion of the community with your opinion then maybe you deserve such low standards.

I didn’t say I represent a large portion of the community… I just said I’m happy with what they gave us and wouldn’t want it as a class. If you can’t take people disagreeing with you then don’t make topics.

You are happy with a low effort reskin that probably took an intern a few hours to recode, good for you.

I’ll just repeat myself here.
This is probably the most realistic thing to happen.
And maybe, just maybe, hunters might get Black Arrow back in the new talent tree.

Looking doubtful at this point if Im honest with you, If Blizz can get away with appeasing people with low effort work they probably feel their work is complete with Dark Ranger and seeming as someone brought it up High elves.

Then ask them for it. Asking a complete class is just unrealistic and won’t happen.
But they’re doing a big overhaul of professions… So… New glyphs might very well be on the card.

When was the last Time Blizz actually listened to their playerbase? If they listened to what the players wanted you’d see Real Wildhammer Dwarves/Ogres and High elves being playable, instead… we got skins to roleplay as those things (Kul Tirans are literally Ogres btw).

No no no. You’re confusing ‘being listened to’ with ‘getting what you want’.
Those are two very different things.

Pretty recently, with the introduction of cross factions zombie elves, Barbie elves, and more customizations to the forgotten mana elves and moose taurens.

You seem to forgot they never wanted to add High elves…. At all. It was a long battle since Vanilla/classic, and the fans often were met with rejection both from horde players and some devs.

At that point, the fans were willing to accept high elves in any shape or form, and indeed they were introduced as customizations. It’s not perfect, but I’m happy. Better than roleplaying a high elf on a blue skinned elf.
