I woke up this morning and checked that there are some new PTR notes. Going through MW section I found this:
Shaohao’s Lessons now displays a tracking buff indicating which Lesson will be learned on the next Sheilun’s Gift cast.
Empowered Celestial – While active, Yu’lon and Chi’Ji heal up to 6 nearby targets with Enveloping Breath when you cast Enveloping Mist, healing over 7 seconds, and increasing the healing they receive from you by 10%. When activated, Yu’lon and Chi’Ji apply Chi Cocoons to 5 targets within 40 yards, absorbing damage for 10 seconds.
Thunder Focus Tea makes Enveloping Mist an Instant Cast on top of all other functions.
If you look few topics down below in this section, I mentioned that today we are the least picked healer for m+ because:
We don’t provide utility,
Fistweaving is purely RNG.
Based on the notes it seems like Blizzard is taking care of the first point! The bubble on celestials would be a huuuuge incentive for M+ and thunder focus tea on Enveloping is something that was needed.
The RNG on Fistweaving remains (both heals and lessons in sheilun), but at least with these changes, I feel like MW monks will finally start moving up from the lowest healer tier!
I am being cautious though, need to see first how effective the bubble on yulon/chiji will be (it might be complete trash and not change anything, but the concept itself is cool).
Overall, at least there is direction for MW monks now, so gj Blizzard! Just please don’t mess it up by making it extremely weak!
The mass cocoon sounds amazing, tbh. I want that right now.
However I wish they’d not add it as an effect of our celestials. My experience has been that celestial healing in M+ is usually overkill for any given damage event, but that we’re highly vulnerable to getting our timing wrong and not having it available when we needed it. We don’t need stronger celestials, we need more fallback buttons to allow us to recover from a misplay.
For comparison, I can switch to my evoker and it has a big party heal available much more often. Dream Breath every 30 seconds, talented to be 70% stronger. Spirit Bloom, talented down to 20 seconds. Toss in Temporal Anomaly and either will take a party’s health up by over 50%, often straight from near-death to full. Heck, with some Echoes out, Emerald Blossom will do a good chunk of party healing and that’s not even on a cooldown. I haven’t even mentioned Rewind, Emerald Communion, or Zephyr.
Meanwhile MW gets Revival on 3 mins, a celestial on 1 or 3 mins depending on talent choice, and maxed Sheilun’s at either 40 or 80 seconds. We don’t cycle our big group heals around in less than 40 seconds which gives us gaps where we really need groups to stop taking so much damn damage. And then we overkill heal during our celestial window and top the group up 3x more than needed.
It’s not about raw hps, it’s about the rhythm of delivery and the speed that those group heals come back round after their last use. MW is tied up in huge bursts that then fall off hard for the next 48 seconds.
So… if multi-cocoon is to be a thing, why not have it as a talent under regular cocoon? Make cocoon into a gap-filler we can throw in between celestials, or to cover the shortfall when we mis-timed something and let us recover our rhythm.
Also, soothe. Please, it’s so obviously thematic it just needs to happen
