Did they mess up with a ban wave?

Seems like way too many and all at the sameish time? Or is it likely everyone did it?

They usually get a few wrong when they do these ban waves. It’s quite normal… also some players don’t like to admit they did wrong when they get caught

It’s not normal.

Usually it’s 1 or 2 posts or something like that, not a flood of people.

I think something went really wrong.

edit: Lmao, people are apparently getting second bans as well now on their already banned accounts.

No, I remember them having these ā€œI got banned outragesā€.

They’ve probably been banned for a reason, whether what they were doing was illegal or not.

well, with the new changes to boosting etc, i wouldnt be surprised if they banned more people than usualy this time around.

edit:
from the op post on reddit it seems that they took a closer look on who traded ā€œlargerā€ amounts of money. they got 50k from a friend. but who knows really. there are always false positives in a ban wave.

edit2:
apparently someone tweeted blizzard and got this response, no idea if its true though, dont have twitter to confirm.

so, its mostly all outrage for nothing i assume. you can take off your tinfoil hats.

I’ll wait until the dust settles before I decide.

Theres a lot of people that do so much fishy stuff they probably don’t even know whats legit now. I mean we see people here whining every day about boosters / botters and so on.
Now a few get a ban and its all ā€œI never did nuffn guv!ā€

Yeah, it seems like it’s people that have account shared or something.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it was this many account sharing though. There were people asking for others to do the guardian mage tower for them on a discord I’m on, this is likely catching players from the last time mage tower was up that got help by people logging into their accounts to do it.

I you are innocent then make your case 1 on 1 with the CS team and they will sort it out, do not be part of any social media, forums and other platforms.(my advice)
Almost everytime for 1 that blizz mess up there is 10 guilty ones screeming INNOCENT!!! on top of their backs.
I cant even explain how many times i’ve seen it on the forums, and people are never fully transparent.

I have reported every single boosting, ā€œhelpingā€, ā€œcoachingā€ and ā€œwhisper me for more info :)ā€

They get what they deserve

Us forums are full with ā€œban Waveā€ posts.

Tons of components in your computer have unique IDs/serial numbers that get transmitted to the WoW/Battle.net servers.

As long as it hits the boosting Communities and people buying boosts (no matter if rmt or gold) I’m fine with it

But as someone mentioned on the US forum:

It also happened sometime after the legion mage tower back then.

People were selling Mage Tower boosts. Those guys deserve to get banned as well.

We don’t know if people are wrongly banned or not and many people lie when it comes to bans. The only people who can sort it out are Blizzard.

A friend’s guild just lost one of their raiders to a six month ban for selling boosts in Torghast but he is not denying his guilt.

It very much sounds like a ban wave has just gone out. At least they did it before the start of the new raid.

Onori’s right. According to Wowhead, the bans are for account sharing and the implication is that it was from a while ago so quite possibly Mage Tower amongst other things. They sent the wrong ban mail (RMT) the first time which is why people have received a second.
