Differences Between RP-PvP and PvP Servers in SoD

Greetings fellow adventurers!

I’m currently contemplating my next WoW server choice and could use some insights from the seasoned veterans out there. I’m torn between opting for an RP-PvP server or a regular PvP server for SoD, and I’m hoping you can share your experiences and knowledge to help me make an informed decision.

  1. Role-Playing PvP (RP-PvP):
  • How does the role-playing aspect influence the gameplay on these servers?
  • Are there specific rules or conventions regarding role-playing that players follow?
  • How does the community differ from standard PvP servers?
  1. PvP (Player versus Player):
  • What are the main differences in the player interactions and community atmosphere on PvP servers?
  • How do battlegrounds and world PvP events unfold on regular PvP servers?
  • Are there any notable advantages or disadvantages compared to RP-PvP?
  1. Overall Experience:
  • Which server type do you personally prefer, and why?
  • Any memorable stories or events that stand out from your time on either type of server?

Your insights will be invaluable in helping me make the right choice for my WoW journey. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and experiences!

It really depends a lot on what you are looking for.
I play with a group of 6 irl friends and we have always played on PvP Servers. I wanted to roll on an RP-PvP Server this time, but got overruled. So we ended up on Lone Wolf and the reasons why i wanted to avoid a regular pvp server are really living up to my expectations:
Regular pvp servers (Living Flame and Lone Wolf) are full of sweaty people gatekeeping braindead easy content. Asking for Gearscore, buffs, consumables, etc for extremely easy content. There is a lot of Boosting and GDKP runs going on… those are all degenerate things i really would have liked to avoid.
If i wasn’t playing in a group of 7 people were we only sometimes need a few random people for content, I’d probably be having a miserable time. Those things tend to be a lot less of an issue on RP-Servers…
The downside of those RP Servers tho seems to be the smaller population, where u sometimes struggle to find enough people to group for the content u are looking for.

So again I’d say it depends what u want and what u don’t want.
If u are a min/maxer urself and like to speedrun content and not really „play“ the game but treat it as a 2nd job. Or u are into getting boosted/boost urself, are into RMT/GDKPs for gearing then don’t roll on an RP Servers. Do u have a group of friends to play with? Then it doesn’t matter where
Enjoy your journey wherever you end up!

Id say start with googling “wow rp” rules to do your readups.

From personal experience:
Pvp servers are usually too crowded, while rp has lower pop, with all pros and cons to that.
Rp servers usually has less 12yo moma pvpers, elites and other not pleasant people.
