I’ve just observed that all melee weapons share a uniform sound, whether it’s an axe, a sword, or a mace – they all seem indistinguishable. It would be greatly appreciated if each weapon had a distinct sound profile; for instance, a sword could emit a more slicing sound, a mace could resonate with a weighty bashing tone, and an axe could produce a robust, meaty sound.
Moreover, it would add depth if the sound varied based on the opponent’s armor type – whether they are clad in plate, mail, leather, or cloth. This customization would contribute to a more immersive and realistic audio.
I’d definetely love that! While we’re at it, I’ve always wondered, when you are a prot warrior and cast shield block, some enemies trigger a sound of metal clashing on metal (some sort of “clang clang” for as long as you keep shield block up), that’s really cool, but not every enemy does it. Does anyone know which ones do?
To some degree I feel like shields already adjust the sounds based on what they’re being hit with, it shouldn’t be to difficult to expand it to weapons.
I’d love it to change based on armor type as well as you say!
Swords and maces do have different sounds though it might only be for warrior, ive noticed on my fury warrior that the abilites sound different if you’re using maces apposed to sword/axe.
I mainly wield swords in wow, but the sound they produce doesn’t feel crisp; rather, it resembles the impact of a stick rather than the clean, slicing sound I would prefer. especially the sound when using abilities.
It only works for auto attacks as far as I know, and it’s either blunt or cutting sound. But you never hear them since you barely ever see auto attacks
I am guessing it is the sound of blocking attacks you are thinking about. Considering shield block is providing 100% block chance you probably associate the block sound with the ability.
It most certainly is, though it doesn’t trigger always. There are some times where every enemy attack triggers it, and then it won’t do it again for like a couple of hours, so I’m not sure if it’s random or based on some specific enemy type (like, melee ones, but it’s not that)
