I just can´t see Thorgast anymore. I did the whole Challenge Thing for the Mount. I have max. Legy (235) on my warrior(Tank, and for Arms too) , mage, and now im on the warlock and i just keep doing this Thorgast - Failure of a supposed to be Fun Mode, and we switch it up to "u must clear it " Content. You just f*cked up. Its boring. Not even challenging with Warrior. WIth other classes , challenging yea, but i just dont want to see it again. I had ENOUGH! Give me more ways to earn Soul Ash, Daily´s, Raid Things( like extra Challenges on Bosses or whatever) just smth else man. I quit this game just because Thorgast is an essential Content. It should be just a "you can go there with ur friends and clear it if u want to " IMO. Like this it just sucks hard.
I agree with you. But developers are just pushing their own agenda and don’t care about the player experience.
The changes in the pipeline for Torghast are bound to make it even more tedious.
I have 4x 60 level characters that I want to play and just thinking about all those Torghast runs makes me sick to my stomach.
Wait, what do you mean? I will have to go back there??? Why?
If you wait ~3 days, you’ll get soul ash in much higher numbers.
If u want to upgrade your Legy, you have to go there many times .
You know what, for the first time since I play WoW I may say no to an important upgrade. Even thinking about that monstrosity of a content makes me feel sick in the stomach!
I would be happy to see alternative sources for basically everything…
- Why not allow WQs to give 10 soul ash and 2-3 valor?
- Why can’t dungeons and battlegrounds offer soul ash?
- Why not have Torghast drop valor every run, even if you did it this week?
What’s important (to Blizzard) is the timegate, so players with loads of game time don’t run miles ahead of those with less. Fine, they can keep that. It can be done as a weekly earnings cap, but why not allow players to literally play what they like rather than insist they do a bit of everything?
The current situation can only guarantee that the big majority of players feel compelled to do something they dislike in order to access the parts of the game they enjoy. It’s not good game design. We’d be better of with “do anything, it all counts” and let people gravitate to the activities that suit them.
Torghast has hidden potential though if they succeed it might acutally be quite good, but for now I just wish that you capped Soul Ash and the new resource from one run.
Actually a thing in some other MMOs.
As it should be
All the game dev should be doing is trying to make a balance of ease and convenience (world quests) with more challenging content (M+, raids, rated PvP) such that you get better returns/hour by doing the tough stuff. Blizz can keep their weekly caps. There’s no contradiction here at all.
Players should be nudged towards the group content (because MMO), but not mandated to it if they don’t like it. And vice versa, there should be no solo content that feels mandatory, because many players begrudge every minute of that.
Looks like Blizzard designers have a huge amount of insecurity in their own content to me.
They aren’t sure people would play it if it was a choice, so they are just making it mandatory.
I bet if they made Torghast an optional game mode with its own reward structure, people would 100% have a much more positive reception of it. But we will never see this design from Blizzard. They are just in constant fear for their engagement figures they have to force their playerbase to play the game.
This is one of the things I hate about Borghast. All one gets at the end of it is Soul Ash. Mobs drop nothing. Bosses drop nothing. One ends up with a handful of dust. Literally LOL
In 9.1 I’m not bothering with Torghast.
I’ll get my soul cinders from Covenant Assaults, the weekly quest and missions. I’m not in a hurry.
Yeah, I’m not reforging my legendary. I don’t care about the socket and the one I have is fine with me.
Quite honestly, it feels like Blizz take a faith-based approach.
“The game is the game, it works well, it works according to the design, it was always meant to work this way and all parts are as the design intended. There is no other way for the game to be, for this is the way. Embrace the game as it is, and the game will embrace you. Play the game, for the game is as it should be.”
A different management might be more scientific; experiment, observe, theorise, repeat. Throw multiple ideas and features and systems out, analyse which attract players and which get rejected; abandon future plans for the things nobody likes, double down on the things that were popular. If there is a feature that splits the audience; make it optional. Divvy up it’s reward system with other features so players can choose how they go about earning their various currencies.
Almost certainly. There absolutely are some people who enjoy Torghast as a thing to do; but they’re probably about 20-30% of players, so 70-80% of people who have to do Torghast to progress didn’t want to be there. They had others uses for that time, and they resent being forced to run Torghast to keep up with everyone else. No surprise this results in tired, bored, angry players complaining.
I totally sympathise with your thinking; I just don’t believe you should have to sacrifice character progress because content is boring rather than because content is harder than you want to tackle. That reeks of poor game design and Blizz can and should be doing better than leaving players deciding the reward isn’t worth the effort.
…it’s a bit of a naff game if the reward is ever not worth the effort.
As a torg lover I support making Torg no longer the sole way to obtain leggo currency.
Why? Because they may actually design it to be something interesting and challenging as opposed to this sorry excuse for torg we got now compared to what was promised, because they’ve set the bar so low and uninteresting in a bid to make everyone feel like “I can do it, and I will do it, because it’s not that bad…” that it tends up still being a chore for those people, and for those whom enjoy the prospect of a solo challenge, it doesn’t fit the bill either.
Where’s the endless mode with difficulty that ramps up to impossible?
Where’s the non-power-based loot? (or loot that is specific to torg and torg only)
Where’s the stuff that makes me rack my brains and try to resolve a problem?
That’s right, despite wanting it initially, you pencilled it out because you were insistent “everyone should be running torg weekly” and to compel those who really don’t want to, to do it, you’ve made the content bland and uninteresting and just a weekly chore for soul ash.
Once upon a time i’d still clear every mob, every pot, but I don’t even need to do that anymore, I can generally get the boss if I skip half the floors.
Heck, my monk was doing the 195 recommended floors at 159 ilevel. I mean come on. This isn’t an “i’m so awesome” post so much as a “what did you do” blizz post.
Make soul ash and cinder drop from everything.
Unify valor and CP and make them drop from raids, pvp, dungeons, world quests.
Unify honour with a new pve currency (call it glory or something) and make this currency the one u use to buy “weaker” gear to start out (as in pvp atm) for all game modes off vendors. It drops as does honour atm, but also from each boss kill in dungeons and raids, and again, wqs as well.
If the game modes are designed well, people will play them anyway. If they don’t stand up to this challenge, then they need to be re-evaluated. But compelling people to do them through “necessity bribes” as a way to try and show their success is just whack.
Love the idea. Exactly what i was thinking of. I could imagine to do dailys for a special Soul Ash Faction or smth like this too.
If your Boss is beating you up everytime you go to work and he is paying you more for it from now on. He is still beating you up.
Yeah, that would be fine too! An hour in Torghast, or a bunch of outdoor quests (lul, probably in the Maw) taking a bit longer but summing up to the same reward. Player choice as to whether to do the shorter, more intense Torghast runs, or the longer, more relaxed open world. Weekly cap prevents grinding and lets players know they’ve done enough.
Edit: you can of course do both if you enjoy both, but the primary currency is a shared cap.
It could be so easy. Just a few Caps and “go there- Kill these- collect this” quests . ^^
I understand you. Before Release i was hyped for Thorgast. The endless mode , which asmongold played, looked amazing. It looked like smth you could do alone or with friends if you just need a challenge rn. I would like this optional Thorgast Thing. You see im not a thorgast hater. Im just bored by seeing the same sh*t for over half a year and the force to go there. Imagine my WL in Raid without Legy. Not 1 Raidlead will take me its just a sad decision from Blizz to make it mandatory.
