Difficulty isn't keeping the new generation or casuals away from WoW

You don’t need to know anything if you don’t care for the story.

it’s not about the musts , it’s about giving new players a more cohesive experience.

It wont be cohesive if they have to go through all lore pre-current expac.

well, as an easy way to do it, an introduction campaign can have a questline between level 1-60 that shows you small parts of main stories from the past to at least give you an idea about the game you’re starting to play. otherwise it becomes an overwhelming experience.

It becomes an overwhelming experience doing it that was as well - as there’s a lot of important main stories to go through. It’s better to let new players go back to see for themselves if that’s what they want - or just go and read Wowpedia, where everything is written up in a good and easy to understand way.

Wait you said the difficulty isn’t what keeps new players away but then by the end you say WoW won because it was not difficult.

There is a distinction here FFXVI is a story driven game, so you enjoy the journey that the game takes you.
WoW competition is in the end game which shifts the mind set to ‘‘it only matters when you get there’’ and is not easy to get there.
WoW loses because the way the game works is competing with other games where the point that matters is where you start playing so fortnite, dota, LoL.
On top of this all these games got low bar of entry, low bar of learning but high bar of mastery, in wow you need like 4 addons before you even start playing.
WoW is not competing with FFXVI because noone plays wow for the story and anyone that like high action games quickly realizes wow matches more that vibe together with dota and LoL

that’s a big issue tho isn’t it ? only thing the game offers is competitive hardcore gameplay and it’s not even giving a proper experience at it because of the games that solely focus on that. story and casual aspects of wow could bring new generation since there are many people from new gen who play ff14 gw2 etc. wow is an mmo not a moba or a shooter, seems like that fact is being ignored in the sake of stable success.

wow is not difficult now either.

unless you mythic raid or do m+20 which new players dont do anyway there is nothing hard in this game.

Problem with trying to please both crowds is that one will always feel alienated compare to the other.
Players who come for action and competitiveness will always find the story and quests a chore.
And people who play for the story will always feel they are not rewarded enough for doing the story.
In the end of the day i think wow leans more to the competitiveness and action experience but I wonder why would any new player bother playing this game when they can just play LoL, Dota or Fortnite and just start full gas right away.

That’s the problem with streamers and youtuber i have been pointing out for years now.

For years they try to turn wow into lobby based instance symulator.

That’s why they whined so much about how everyonf id forced to farm ap , how legendaries are pure evil , how azwrite gear is travedy etc etc.

They wanted to get rid of MMORPG elementem for years now because that didnt sell well on Twitch.

That’s why we got abomination that DF on launch was and this is why IT failed so hard. Because it for gutted of a lot of MMORPG elements.

Blizz is just do desperate now that they even given players what players wanted aka suepr deterministic gearing up . Because they failed to bad listening to streamers

And who said no one plays Wow for the story?Do you have numbers to back that up?
And if we are matching it with Dota and Lol …then it ceases to be a MMORPG …
So the strive should be towards Ff14 not other 2…

Exactly this…I ve been saying this for so long…

8hours from 0 to 60
Weeks from 70 to full max ilevel.
Game design tells you everything.
FFXVI does not speeds you in the story and you are incentivise to not do it last time i checked.
It doesn’t take a genius to see the difference of how both companies see mmos.

They did not always see it like this though.
Wrong people were listened to…and here we are…

exactly and they don’t require you to spend hours just to get to the competitive playstyle , you can start directly to play the game and level for a while till u unlock competetive but in the meantime all you do is actually preparing for the comps. in wow a new player has to level 10 levels(considering the used boost to60) , learn about many mechanics of dungeons, char. mechanics, game’s default mechanics etc. and do tons of stuff before joining the mythic dungeons.

Because all those games are literal trash - especially Fortnite, which is for toddlers?

I doubt there is anyone younger than 20 who plays this game.

yes becasuse asmongolds opinion is the objective truth

Yet I find FF to be incredibly dull, the game play is awful. Not crazy about he graphics either. That’s a personal thing. I wasn’t blown away by the story either but I can’t even remember at what point I gave up this time. I can’t check because no game time no play with FF. Unless you are a new account then you can play for free.

I have friends who love it and it’s their main game. I have tried twice to get into the game and I just can’t. There is nothing wrong with like FF. I really wanted to like it. However it’s not like WoW doesn’t have a huge casual playerbase too.

I stopped there as all hope for any reasonable discussion, opinion or anything relevant to say instantly vanished.
