Diminishing return on secondary stats

Hey buddys!

I have read that secondary stats are getting capped back on the Shadowlands.

I’m kinda interested on knowing how this works, but I have read two different things on Wowhead, so I wanna ask you which one is the correct one.

One says penalty starts at 25% and the other one says penalty starts at 30%.

Blizzard, tell us news about this, please.

It was at 25% but it got raised to 30%.

Fun killing? Stat soft/hard caps have been around since I’ve joined WoW. It’s the same concept just applied in a blanket fashion.

If you want to talk about fun killing lets go back to 8.3 where secondary stats were uncapped.

Man, TBH I had not thought a lot about what the stat cap means, but yeh buddy, cap is good. I don’t wanna see a destro lock casting Chaos bolt like 3 times in 2 seconds holy moly!

Also its not like we will feel this much first tier, 30% is rather a lot of stat and first penalty aint that hard

Worth noting also that mastery is weird and doesn’t work like other stats, the mastery Dr will kick in at whatever % the same amount of stat would take to reach 30% haste / crit / Vers etc.

For shadow that’s 19% other specs are gonna be different.

Most likely the DR is based on rating, not percentage.

Yes, idr the exact amount of rating needed though. Just know shadow hits it at 19%

for frost mage 33% crit chance is basically cap and first go to in secondaries, yet since 30% we will get diminishing returns? what a shame

Yep. It’s purely for end game in a few tiers. Shouldn’t even know it exists at this stage. Fire mages with insane mastery, locks with tons of haste, BM hunters stacking crit, it gets out of hand.

Think it’s the bonus mastery +30%, some classes have 50% (or high mastery) as standard with 0 mastery on gear.
