Anyone else disappointed that the undead customisation is only humanising them.
I get everyone has been asking for non exposed bones but some customisation in the other direction would be nice.
It just seems everything has to be good looking nowadays.
More skeletal, no eye sockets just skin, insects crawling in eye socket, broken ribs, open ribs that show the innards. Forsaken characters could be legitimately creepy.
While I understand that Iām criticising them prematurely.
I seem to be the only one who wants to push the convo in the other direction, everyone else just wants to be a pale human with red eyes, like nathanos.
Itās frankly boring and unimaginative, not everything has to be pretty. There are plenty of other races for that.
Furthermore with the introduction of Caelia possibly being the forsaken leader it seems even blizz canāt stomach an actual undead looking forsaken.
Personally Iām quite excited for the new customisations, but it would be nice to get more decayed appearances at some point as balance. Chances are it wonāt be in Shadowlands though.
Personally I canāt wait taking the bone look away. I always thought it was completely destroying the look of the armor, and it made no sense that it showed trough the best armor available.
Ever wondered how the undersides of their pants stay up? Why they even have lower half sleeves? That the spine coming through everything on the back makes the armor flimsy and thus useless? And how is it that even if I donāt have flesh on my elbows, all the armor I find and create also has no elbows, even if it is considered to be epic. Thatās the main reason I hardly have Forsaken chars.
No, Iām pretty happy with it, though agreed: a few extra creepy options would be epic. I would not mind more bones showing, as long as itās not poking through my armor at all times!
I quite like the deboning options and the green/purple eyes should be nice for warlocks/shadow priests. More hair colours is also good. While I do agree we seem to get few options compared to some other races so far, āso farā is the important bit I think. Not everythingās datamined, announced or implemented yet. Itās not a bad idea to say āWe want moreā loud and early, but doing so on the European forums probably has little effect.
First thing Iām going to do come shadowlands, is visit the barber surgeon general and get mi joints patched!
Now, I donāt want a full fresh skin transplant. I got most of my parts comfortable and worn in, so to speak.
But the fact my joints are all bone just dismays me.
I could have asked a tailor to patch them with cloth, but that wears out as fast sometimes (mold is especially a problem for us forsaken, and the apothecaryās are note interested in new strains of blight than working on anti fungals.)
There might have been some viables in leather worker patches, but then you look like a quilt!
So transplanted flesh is good enough, at least for me. Going to go with that cured slightly rotted style patches as i know a barber with a blood leaf problem, who can fix me up with slightly reinforced cured patches. They look more rotted, but have cured skin and goblin reinforced tendons.
Though if it were up to me, (and if we get undercity back) there should be special forsaken underbarbers who can do more work.
I know some who would mix and match (say, a boney elbow here, a knee there) and I know at least one who would love a full āpatchworkā skin (not patchwerk tho, he needs some steel ribs and a corset to keep those damn entrails in place. And the guards lost half their intestines when we evacuated undercity, I swear I slipped on half a dozen spots where they dropped bits in the rush!)
As in, made up of stitched patches of other skin tones, and you can see the stitching.
But I have to sayā¦bugs in the eye socket are bad. You will loose more brain mass that way when the little biters get peckish. But you could get a stuffed bug, maybe a leather worker or tailor could sew ya one for best of both worlds.
(Meaning animated items would be too much effort, and what do the other races get as a replacement? Just stick to a transmog bug that sits in hair/on head normally, but when you are forsaken and have empty eye socket, the bug sits inside one eye)
I mean, some more options to highlight this stuff wouldnāt be amiss.
This said, I donāt think every option coming SL is aimed at āhumanisingā forsaken. It is perfectly possible to create very undead looking forsaken in SL. This is me messing about with new options for a few mins in the dressing room:
Iād argue these look MORE undead than what we have currently.
Its totaly fine. There is plenty of customization what alredy do not add any value to characters. I get new feature on body sounds amazing but do you know what will happen in reality? Most people will just have armor on and you will not notice any difference. Spending dev time on feature what most people wont notice or will notice only you zoom in and look straight into charcter face ads very small value. You migt also just spent that time creating more armor sets which adds far more value to the game. So be glad they are willing to spent resources in such features.
Can you blame them? Look at any WoW cutscene that has a major Undead character. Sylvanas, Nathanos, Calia, Derek. They all look like gery humans (or elf). None of them look like the playable Undead model.
So can you blame people for wanting to look like those who represent their kind?
Personally I prefer the no bones look but I get what the OP is saying.
It would be nice to have a few more rotted options. How about the option to have one/or both arms or legs just bone? After all with mechagnomes it seems like they are happy to have races lose their arm and leg transmog options!
I intend(ed) for my undead characters to have different levels of bone showing (fleshy arms/boney legs on DK, fully fleshed shadow priest) as that seemed to be initially possible in the Wowhead dressing room, but that no longer seems to be an option. Does this mean it will be an all or nothing thing, or do we not know for certain yet?
I think it will be a whole body thing, but separate arm/leg/spine options would be nice, and if weāre pushing it have the choices asymmetrical if we want I. E. boneless left arm and legs and boned right arm.
