Disco priest 8.1 viability

Hellou people. I've just hit 120 with my priest and im planning to pursue some rating in 3's. This is my first time ever playing a healer and I love the style of disco priest gameplay.
Is it worth it playing it in 8.1, note that I currently have 0 exp in 3s and would like to get 2.2k as a healer. Thank you :)

No one know what Blizzard have on theirs heads. They can make a spec top tier, but after nerf it to underground.
Right now disc priest is good on live, but on ptr it is bottom tier. It looks Bliz wants all dics switch to holy in 8.1.

Yes, but I guess that even after nerfs disco priest should be viable for rated arena. I don't think that they will just nerf it to the point where it's unplayable.

Easy they did it already with resto druid, so they can do it with dics too.
You know right now disc is not the best arena healer. In Blizzcon running now disc priests are not the meta and it is underperforming class, but they still nerf discs. In Blizzcon 2018 only one team played disc and lost hard, top teams do not play disc now.
What I really asked was if it will be possible to reach high arena rating with this spec as unexperienced arena player. It doesnt have to be the best spec in arena as long I'm enjoying it.

has more to do that disc is limited to rmp/jungle and playing offensive while you can kinda countergear on ptr with choosing from traits you want and tank trinket stuff.

on ladder disc is still top healer in 2s anyway and in 3s becaus jungle and rmp are the best comps in the game

owlplay and dh/boomy/rsham are just as good or better than jungle/RMP on ladder.

you better hurry and hit that gladiator now, so you don't need to complain later
Seems to me disc is going to be a little trash when 8.1 comes but who knows

disc is the best spec right now for low or mid experienced player. It is the easiest healer to play and climb the ladder.

The issue with disc it is very good on ladder, but bad in tournaments.

You know how much easier to play disc than rshaman and disc does not need to stack azerite traits to be viable. can start arena in blue gear and start climbing ladder. For shaman you need to run mythic long time to get that tidal surges before entering arena.

I see. Well I hope we will still be in solid state after 8.1. Ty for info :)
Disc will be trained through the ground by melee teams since disc doesn't have any of the kiting methods other healers in this game has.
Add in some pve centric nerfs on healing.

If it becomes some caster meta disc might still be around since focus will nerf does nothing vs casters.

disc and rsham are both the two easiest healers lol. Both have really simple healing rotations and CDs, but both can also do some pretty cool game winning plays that give them a high skill ceiling while having a low skill floor.

also go ahead and try to play against most comps in 3s without 2x enduring luminescense (unless you're playing with a mage ofc, you barely have to heal then)

btw my thoughts on disc in 8.1 is they will have literally no arena representation with those nerfs lolcya
Disc priests will be ok in 8.1
Rdruids considered as worst healers in current meta but yet we still see lot of them in the tournament.

So, if you know your class and what to do you can surely achieve 2.2 as disc
I think the bigger barrier will be the "player" instead of the "class."

You have to play tons and learn lots, if you are gonna reach 2.2k with randoms. If you got regular arena mates that will help. But, still take time.

Is focused will nerf gonna be that hard for us? I've played some arenas in greens yestrday and people with 125-130k hp were struggling to kill me, I imagibe how hard it would be if i had like 150k hp much more versatility and traits.

I actually like to play with randoms for a start, since they often just zerg in, go los etc, it makes me pay more attention to what's happening. On the other hand, microphone would help a lot, but im gonna learn basics first.
With all the nerfs incomming and global cds removal for other classes on their mobility abilities, disc is probably gonna end up in a mess. It is pretty strong atm but still can be easily cced. I expect, after nerfs to survivability, it will be just target number 1 for most of the comps since it will die quickly and have no way of getting away from melees.

Yes, against opponents that knows what they are doing. That excludes a lot of people at low rating.

Main deterrent to training a disc tends to be that we are too tanky to be worth it, when it comes to other healers it's usually that they can kite around. We still go oom in record time when trained. Tournament showed some of that.
