It’s a trend.
Never follow trends kids.
Remember msn? Or Ventrillo? TS? We are so old
there was mumble at some point too.
And AOL? AIM? Idk
ICQ. For some reason i still remember my id there.
when blizzard promotes the game for go go go anti-social player types, go go go anti social player types is what you get left with once all the social players leave to more social focused games.
And Myspace!!
Depends on the guilds. So far all of my guilds since discord became a thing have used discord. The moment people did something together they hopped onto discord. The only exception is my current guild because for whatever reason my GM has a Teamspeak server and uses Discord solely for chatting outside of game, posting stuff, bots doing their thing regarding news etc etc. And some people use discord for talking anyhow.
Thats still the case. It always depends on the guild. I still have friends from all the guilds i had been in.
Same as above
Will never do that. Dont need to now anyway. Also while my SO is playing WoW too i will not play together with her (aside from it that shes alliance) as that is a recipe for disaster.
Depends on the guild.
People changed. Also it depends, once again, on your guild. My previous guild was very much a community so to speak.
Yes. However i dont respond to that unless im whispered. Mainly because while i may be online in game the possibility for me to be on the desktop is around 99.9% and whispering is the safest bet to get me to join for anything. Im also not a huge fan of declining something if someone asked me for something unless i have to yeet irl.
Vent, teamspeak, mumble
Still using that in my guild
You could try using a lightweight, USB Mono headset. eg. Plantronics C310-M… I don’t like wearing headphones much either, but the Mono headsets are ok.
I drink at my computer often, so a head set with sticky out mic gets in the way / is a nuisance. That’s one reason I like using the app on my phone instead
Teamspeak still exists? remember using that back in BC and then moving on to ventrillo in wrath!
The Plantronics Mono, has a mic arm that swings up out of the way.
Will think about it thanks for the tip! I don’t do hardcore content atm though so no real reason for voice chat
Apparently. All new people have the exact same thought. As did i. But in the end its not our call but our GMs. That way we have at least two voice chats to use in case one kicks the bucket mid raid. And no, im not going to acknowledge ingame voice chat.
I have used bnet voice calls for a while however. Cant remember why again.
No worries.
Used that one a bit during BFA, wasnt so bad i think? But overall i find discord better then the in game option.
Depending on the deal with microsoft, it might even become preferred by players again.
