It would actually be really cool if you could choose direction for disengage, like you can for blink. If you press forward and blink you go forward, if you press back you blink back, same for left and right. Is that what you mean?
You can blink in the direction you’re looking or, if you talk to an npc, you can change it and blink in the direction you’re moving. It’s just a matter of preference, neither of the 2 is better.
At first glance it seems like a great idea, but the more I think about it the more I think that I would accidently use it way too much since I tend to jump alot while or inbetween other skills, and accidently using such an important CD would be quite devastating.
That’s why having a setting like for mages blink would be great. It could even be off by default so that people who want to keep it like it is now don’t have to do anything. People who want it could go to a hunter trainer and enable it.
and certains mechanics in vision / dungeon where you have to don’t move and just jump.
As for me i love disengage and rotate my toon in the right direction very useful in pvp etc.

Do you mean that there are situations where it would be bad to have to double press jump to use Disengage?

Having to rotate the camera is a unique input pattern I guess, but I don’t know if it really adds anything. I think I would prefer the mage input where you can choose direction. I agree that it is a useful skill in pvp.
Jump shot : run/jump rotate the camera with your toon/ instant shot ( Arcane shot, dot etc) and re-rotate the cam-toon in the good way before landing.
with disengage and the talent that unroot you & give extra speed for few seconds it’s nice to flip in the good way. After you can shoot and kitting ( strafe or jump shot) and keep the distance /repositioning etc.
in pve/pvp for sv hunter it’s an important cd to escape mecanics /cc etc . And so for Bm / MM.
for pve/pvp situations imagine you double press by mistake you burn an important cd … sound very annoying to me.
