Dismount zones around NPCs

For the love of god Blizz, please create auto dismount zones around NPCs.
Mounts are getting bigger and it’s getting a bit ridiculous now.
Most of the time it’s hard enough to click on the NPC, but if they ask you to collect something beside them, then it’s like pin the tail on the donkey.
Zooming in is useless all I get is close up dragon butthole or Yak chuff.

+1 this.

I’d say all quest/vendor NPCs should have a dismount zone added.

In the past, you’d had people griefing at expansion NPCs, like to get into Warlords, people on huge mounts block people from being able to click etc etc.

Blizzard of course back then were not heavy handed, which I miss and people were moved away from the stop on the first thing, they go back and do it again a warning, do it again and 3 hour suspension for being a pleb.

But I agree with an auto dismount, if it’s an event related NPC or expansion zone change NPC for example. This stops griefing, but they should also disable the use of toys as some can be used to annoy people as well.

Just did the valentines day quest at shadowfang keep and… oh boy.
It’s just a mess. I couldn’t tell you what was there. I just had to click around until I hit something and hope for the best.

I guess the new toy will help with that once purchased

A big pile of hearts on top of the NPC? Possibly.
Or will it be a heart sat on a gigantic mount? :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ll go log in right now to test this.

EDIT: It’s indeed hearts on giant mounts, so it’s not going to help much.

Toggle on Interaction with a key. I’ve bound it to Shift+Space without having to cursor onto stuff.

Boo, that’s poor design.

Corgi glasses are your friend. But today near sfk was untolerable. So i hope blizz put dismount automatic for every npc

I disagree. Not because I don’t understand the issue (I hate mounts above vendor NPCs myself) but I do disagree because that would make some spots of the game super annoying.

Like, in Stormwind there is this gnome vendor that roams around and sells toys for kids. Imagine you just stand there, he moves towards you, suddenly you are dismounted and have to re-mount again because that vendor NPC passed by.

There is more nuance to this issue than you might see at first.

That totally won’t become annoying when you’re dismounted every 10 seconds. Especially if it applies to NPCs that move around or follow you.

Ofc should be apllied “with brain”. But to certain npc dismount must be automatic. They did it in some evebts like archive or soup so i think this shouldnt be an hard thing.

They did it to certain event/campaign NPCs in hotspots, but there’s hundreds of quest NPCs in every zone so reviewing all of them and somehow deciding whether or not it should auto dismount isn’t really a good idea.

A far better solution would be to make mounts clickthrough if there’s an NPC under them (which I’m pretty sure is how the game works right now).

Yeah obviously the random bread vendor in IF doesn’t need it. But the few exceptions don’t exclude the rule.

Honestly I’d like to see every camp or quest hub be a footfall only area. Remove mounting in the whole area.

I really dont understand how they keep forgetting this.

Thy just don’t give a :duck:.

…And mailboxes. So i can dance in peace.

the npc around shadowfang keep was completely covered in mounts
+1 for auto dismount zones

YES! That and disabling the toys that allow people to grossly oversize themselves.

“Oh no! They took away my fun in blocking everyone from seeing the vendor! Boo Blizzard! Boo!”

Diddums.
