Divine Storm and Seal of Martyrdom

Dear Blizzard,

It is time to stop being stubborn and make this life saving change for retribution paladins. Patch after patch, expansion after expansion, Retribution was left behind for other specs of the Paladin and other classes. This is the case in the current SoD phase, again. We got literally no specific retribution rune since phase 1. We are left to play with the runes Shockadins get. They are bad for us. Take as an example the wrost slot and there are some things that should be done before the mercy hotfix 3 weeks before the level 60 hpase.

Retribution should be able to use both Divine Storm AND Seal of Martyrdom.
The solution is pretty simple - swap Seal of Martyrdom on Wrists and Purifying Power on the chest.

The Wrist runes literally make no sense for retribution

  1. Improved Hammer of Wrath - The spell costs 1/4 of our mana, takes one seocnd to cast, you can’t aa when casting or after using it and it does not hit that hard either.
  2. Purifying Power - Exorcism gets its cd reseted anyway, so no point in reducing it. Holy Wrath costs like 1/4 of our mana and it does not deal a huge amount of damage.

Also, Consecration costs like 1/3 of our mana pool. This is good in AoE fights alongside Wrath. After casting these 2 we are just watching the fight.

So, literally not a single rune is decent for Retribution this phase.

The curent playstyle is confusing and a plain downgrade from P2

  • playing witha slow weapon and Purifying power is just griefing;
  • playing with a fast weapon (yes, keeping the pummeler, as there is no other 2.0) makes the wrist slot completely useless;
  • playing with Seal of Command is just a bad move that literally halves your DPS since the so-called 7 procs per minute are more like 2 or 3 if you are lucky.

the epic sword from zg is 2.0 speed, and specifically made for pala. everything else is on point

Eh…you mean ZF? Because yes, thats an alternative. IF you get lucky.

But, anyway, two playstyles aren’t bad, being given that the raids are a few months away and we pretty much know the weapons waiting for us in there. And I pretty much doubt they are going to add a 2.0 every patch for the Retribution.

Hammer of Wrath is instant with Improved Hammer of Wrath rune. But yes, they should have reduce mana cost by 80% like exorcism but spamming HoW in PVP would be broken I guess.

So far i done about 35 runs in ZF and i got the cave boss one. So i still have the cheif one and you must do the stairs first.
People are doing offering runs and no one is interested in doing stairs becous it takes to much time. The loot from ZF is crap and therefor no one wants to do it.
If you aint got the ACP or ZF sword you will be a second class paladin.
The ST pvp sword is crap becous its to fast for SoC and to slow for SoM.

Pretty much this is on point. Additionally, why Hammer of the Righteous has been limited to 1handers has me baffled. Allowing it would allow Ret some variety and allow us to experiment without having to rely on AOW and SoM procs. (Only the later can be achieved if Divine storm wasn’t such a meme)

I digress, all these posts fall on deaf ears because let’s face it, Blizzard doesn’t care about the EU forums and unless a streamer kicks up a stink, they won’t care about feedback.

And there are the rune swaps.
A total mockery.

I started SoD to play Classic Retri, But now people are saying retri needs to use a one hander instead of a two-hander to be competative, amongst other things.

Maybe it’s a lost cause to want to play Retri in SoD

LOL! What?! A spec that has a talent for two handed weapon damage needs to use one handed to deal damage?

There’s no luck involved, most pusher Paladins have it (all our Rets have it). Its all about time ^^

it is. we did many mara runs with one-handed ret and he did most dmg

Retri is all about fast weapon speed with seal of the martyr for the exorcism reset spamm.

That is what the spec is about atm.

2 sec speed is still too slow.

You need to swap to a 1 hander for Hammer of the Righteous… Like anyone is going to waste 2 weapons on a spec that competes with the pets on the meters…

We need some one who has a clue whats gona happend in the future to tell us if this situation is a mistake or are paladins changed. Right now we got tank, heal and two wersions of chockadin,
It is fine for me if they wana have 1 fast swinging spelcasting and 1 slow svinging DD, but two fastswinging spelcasting aint fun when all the weponds are to hard to get.

Well, not even a single guild is going to waste 2 good weapons on a spec that at its full bis can barely compete with the hunter / lock pets.

I don’t mind if a “spellcasting” dps option is viable, as long as there is also a slow 2h dps option to choose from, which imo represents the paladin more. And it’s disgustingly shameful that the bis weapon for ph3 is a dumb gnomeregan pummeler. Like wtf
