DK Necromancers (Spec Idea)

So, I was thinking about adding a new specialization to the game, and there are several posts discussing about new spec/classes, and I thought I would make a post with my suggestion for a Necromancer specialization. It is true that the classes are imbalanced, but if Blizzard actually pays attention they can fix this, and I feel like an expansion with Death as its concept should contain a Necromancer spec or class at some point. So let’s get on with my idea:

Necromancers could easily be Warlocks since Warlocks are people who side with any evil power for might which I would of course approve of, but I think that it could also be a caster spec for DKs, and since there are alot Unholy wannabe necromancer characters, DKs could get a 4th specialization: Necromancy Death Knight.
In my point of view, it should be a healing spec to be more special. I was bored today so I have thought about how the spec could function:
A robe-wearing, staff-wielding caster DK would be more in line with the very first DKs, the ones Gul’Dan made in Warcraft 2, which were quite different from the scourge ones.

Here’s some abilities I have thought of:
Passives

  • Death Coil Mastery (Your Death Coil can be cast on Allies and heal them)

I havent thought much about passives
Selectable Auras

  • Raise Dead (Every time an enemy dies, you lose an amount of mana and a ghoul rises to fight by your side for 20 seconds)
  • Spread the Plague: (Whenever an enemy critically stikes an ally, they are damaged for half of the amount dealt)

Abilities

  • Cripple (Apply Cripple debuff on the enemy, reducing their movement speed by 75% and their damage by 10% for 10 seconds)
  • Unholy Frenzy (Sacrifices an amount of health and mana, causing all allies within 10 yards to go into a frenzy, increasing their attack speed by 30% but reduces their armor by 5%. Lasts 45 seconds)
  • Mass Anti-Magic Shell (Applies Anti-Magic shell to all allies for 5 sec)
  • Gift of the Necropolis (Spend a small amount of mana to slightly heal an ally and apply Gift of the Necropolis for 9 seconds, that heals them whenever they damage an enemy)
  • Tremble before the Scourge (strikes fear into the hearts of all nearby enemies, causing them to flee in horror for 5 sec.)

These are some ideas for the kind of abilities this spec would probably use.

I like the idea of a Necromancer but this genuinely sounds like a Warlock with different spell names.

Well, yes, but since classes will now have spec-wide abilities, a necromancer with an imp and stuff would be kinda weird.

Hmm I suppose my idea of a Necromancer is more like the Diablo II / III one.

Golems, poisons, bone armors, skeletons and stuff.

Well, these are but a few of the abilities the spec could have. There can be many fun abillities with the plague and with the whole skeleton thiing,

Necromancers are lorewise, Mages who went too far and started necromancy. Not technically death knights.

So if they were to be a spec instead of a class of their own, It’s mostly better suited for a warlock or a mage than a dk.

plus, what you’re talking about is mostly just a normal unholy dk with some healing abilities.

Well, not saying that they couldnt be warlocks. It would make mogging easier, I just focused on death knight because of the whole death theme.

We preffer to use the term “missunderstood”.

Also a Necromancer Dk is an Unholly DK, if you add a staff and a robe (id assume it would be cloth) then its no longer a spec but a class since its outside the DK weapon and armor types. Another thing, why are you going with healer ? Id say that a ranged caster DK is quite unique on its own, i mean we do not have plate casters in the game.

Fair enough.

Isn’t Unholy a necro since his using undead minions and can summon hordes of them while can also possess an undead…

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Unholy is a melee joke.

Unholy is love
