I’m looking to play either of the classes as an alt in SL, I’m just curious as a whole including all specs and roles, which is the easiest?
I like playing both, so I’m not too fussed on playstyle it’s just more looking for something out of the two that’s easier to pick up and play
Any help is gratefully appreciated!
Monk has the “holy trinity” covered, tank, healer & DPS. Where as Deathknight lacks the option to heal.
If your into tanking, then both are fun. I have really been enjoying Bremaster Monk since Shadowland changes… That said, stagger is a bit odd to to get use to & there is more of a learning curve, but then potentially more rewarding.
Not sure what your main character choice is for Shadowlands, but generally its a good idea to pick an alt that can do something that your main can not, imo at least.

Completely depends on the content you wanna do, if you want to multispec, and how much time you have. SL is alt friendly, but not multi spec friendly in the slightest. One covenant between 3 specs, 1 load of soul binds (putting tank focused soul binds in, then playing a healer?).
And legendaries taking weeks to make top rank, good luck getting a legendary for brew with an extra keg smash charge, that wont work on WW or MW etc. Or get the universal ones that work on 3 specs, but take a huge dive on DPS/tankiness/heals. Or make rank 1 legendaries for each spec, and go behind on all 3.
Frost DK is mega easy, breath build is the AoE but takes some practice. Blood DK you have to manage self heals pretty well. Unholy is pretty complex to be fair. Brew is very simple, gotta manage stagger/brews well though. WW is simple combo like system, can get frustrating with having no real on demand AoE. MW is fine and a pretty solid healer. DK has slow movement, monks are zippy boys.
DK is stable. Monk has higher highs but also lower lows.
Monk is a lot of fun, and I mean a lot of fun.
My main issue with Monk is the talent tree isn’t as flexible as I’d like from a 1 DPS spec class, and its quite a buggy spec.
It’s also known for poor scaling. I love my character getting a lot from its new gear and knowing I will scale will with the new tier.
That is why I do not main a Monk. But for an alt? absolutely. The Night Fae Covenant ability looks so beautiful too.
DK is solid for a main, you won’t get as bored in the long run. But it is slow (both mobility and rotation wise), the specs aren’t as flashy or fun.
Dk is the easiest by far and as it seems way more effective. (as dps)
Now as tank, cant tell you if brew is hard or not because it seems hilariously easy to me and some people disagree.
Monk specs are easy to play like all specs, but they are tricky(not brew) also you will not top meters as mistweaver or ww. Dk will give you the choice of a top tier tank and a really 100% legit dps unlike WW.
