DK or Warrior

Hi I’m looking to create a melee alt as I main a warlock. I’m looking for a relatively straightforward tanking spec with intent to take it further and become better as time goes on. I like both class fantasies but I’m unsure on unholy and arms. I know I can of course play the other specs but I naturally want to be playing the best spec in relative content. Any help is appreciated

given what u said, do u like pets or not? unh deals with pets and arms does not

I’m happy to use pets, I main a warlock so it’s not an issue. My issue is the stance on how complex unholy is supposedly. Obviously having no experience as unholy it could all be heresay

If you are going to raid then choose arms.
If you like big numbers - choose arms
If you are going to m+ then choose unholy.

I have both of these specifications. Generally in my opinion Arms is simpler compared to Unholy.

as the current meta stands with bdk’s in m+ it is simply not worth it, they are literally nerfed to the grounds and easily gets oneshotted in 20+ and above, there’s a good reason u dont see any bdk tanks on the leaderboards top 60, its entirely warriors, druids, dh’s & paladins.

So i recommend going warrior as it is a way more reliable tank as the game is currently aswell as the insane dps / simple play in general .

The people competing for the top 2-3% positions on the mythic plus leader board is only a minute fraction of the player database. Just because these people aren’t completing these top runs as blood DK doesn’t mean it’s not viable. These players are min maxing to the extremes.

There is a blood DK (Naowhh) who is casually completing 21+ as blood so it isn’t impossible.

Just go with the playstyle you enjoy and make it work for you. You’ll naturally play the character better.

Just make a class trials of both those and see what you enjoy more. If i’m only going to play a tank then i’ll totally choose the warrior. I find blood dk extremely boring to play. Both unholy and frost are strong and very fun. For me both warr. dps specs are quite boring comparing them to those of a DK and bring almost no utility to the group. Cry can be helpful at some points but that’s it. AMZ becoming baseline again in Shadowlands is another thing that will be incredibly strong in both m+ and raids (if they keep it the same as it is now ofc) That’s all subjective and what’s fun for me might be dull to you so try them out yourself.

If you have to ask then answer already is - Warrior. You must fall in love with DK theme at the first sight if you want to play one.

Thats the ultimate rule of edgelords necrolords

+21 is nothing like +24 and +25 … and look at Nnoggie top 4 iin the world struggling and getting oneshot, u are clueless to what u’re saying … its not viable at all its a death sentence i played bdk since release so i do know how to play my class and i do know how to make it work for me afterall i personally hit top 20k in under 8 days with an ilvl 456 BDK from nothing to 8 days after i currently returned again.

ur comment makes me laugh because u saw some random casual doing +21 u think its possible to do +24 / +25 on a bdk u are completly wrong hence why the leaderboards obviously dont have a bdk up there, not even the top 5 DK’s are closing in and they are NOT casuals, Nnoggie example who shown on twitch how ridicilously trash the DK became is a pro gamer from method and not some random casual yet he struggles on a +21 / +22 and even some boss mechanics had him oneshotted even he had all his defensives up and a great pro healer from Method aswell .

Dude. Grab a chill pill and re-read my comment. Remember to inhale, count to four, then exhale…

I did not say DKs are the best tanks out there. But they are certainly playable for casual players like you, me and the OP.

I’m advising the person who created the thread to not consider the top ranking players as it’s very unlikely he/she would be competing at this level. If they were, then I very much doubt they would need advice about the DK class from me and especially from the likes of you. It is viable to do high keys like 21+ as I said, and thanks for reinforcing my comment by calling him a ‘random casual’ as that only highlights how easy it might actually be to do a key like that as a dk.

Go warrior, blood DK is dead

Well despite all the hatred towards DKs and blood in general I’ve decided to go against the grain and pick DK. Warrior just feels uncomfortable to me and I think is too oversaturated not that it matters but hey! Thanks for all the opinions and help

i dont think it is very unlikely for anyone to limit themself towards competing even at max / highest m+ , that should be the ‘standard’ ambition for anyone, having no limits, in which BDK now has thanks to the changes that blizzard choose to make upon them which causes them to be such awful an tank that they wont be able to compete in the top tiers but only to their limits ( around +20 / +22 ) . Wheter u’re a casual or not i cant see why anyone would limit themself, it might be very unlikely that many casual inviduals reach this but therefor i still think it is what makes a class the most relevant pve wise to know his ‘limits’ which should be unlimited but sadly that aint the case again with bdk’s .

People have different goals and ambitions and play the game for different reasons. Some are sheep and want to play the best class/spec at the present moment and feel like they are amazing. Others enjoy the specifics of a certain class/spec and the challenges that content may often present.

If it is so apparent that the blood DK tank is not in a competitive state, surely the level of ambition required to play and become a great Blood Dk is equal to, if not greater than striving for high keys with an easier class. It is something I’m sure most would find more rewarding - achieving the unexpected.
