Do Blizzard even care about the real money boost sellers?

Trade chat is used almost exclusively now by boost sellers such as Wowvendor and epiccarry to advertise their services. I will happily name drop websites such as this no matter if it violates any rules, because Blizzard know about these websites and have taken no action against them. They have been more and more bold to the point where they just publicly advertise both in trade, /4 and LFG tool 24/7.

Unless you’re terrible at moderating your game, you KNOW this is happening blizz…

Around 20 December 2018 i’ve uploaded 2 or 3 screenshots here in General Discussion in a thread where there was a reply from a blue guy.

In the screenshots i had the names from these auto-spam bots from my realm - Alliance/Sylvanas.

I legit gave proof from these characters with weird names , when i pmed both , i got the same auto message ‘‘Hi thanks for checkin us ,please visit www …’’

Do you know what happened after that?

I got 2 weeks Silence on forums because i Named & Shamed …These bots…
Who spam and ruin WoW’s economy…

So tell me.
Do you think they care at all ?

All you can do is report them and hope.

It’s vile that they allow it to continue, especially after so many years (they’ve been advertising openly since easily the start of MoP), when they officially state that real money boosts are not allowed.

It’s making the game feel like nothing more than a platform for real money services, and if Blizzard cared about the integrity of the game whatsoever, they’d do something about it. Reports aren’t enough - ban an account, more will crop up. They need to be taking legal action against the websites themselves.

You will hear no argument from me on that score. I am truly behind you with this.

But all we can do is report and report again. Unfortunately there are people using those services and until people stop the sellers won’t stop.

the fact that the sites are still up and running compared to, let’s say a private server that started the vanilla outcry, shows that these boost sellers are helping blizzard by giving players more gold for real money while continuing playing WoW.

but blizzard will take action against sites that take their sub players away to a private WoW.

Sure, a blue will say “we do not tolerate this type of action and please report these when you see it in game” thing is everyone knows the sites no matter how many bots you ban. you need to attack the root of this issue, but you don’t want to because it keeps the players subbed.

It’s against the rules, report them.

how many have you been reporting them? grats on MVP btw =D

Thank you :kissing_heart:

i did that multiple times, the bot is still here… and spamming as usual, don’t even bother with it anymore, do they even ban boost buyers?

A friend lost his account permanently due to IRL money transactions so bans do happen. I have no idea what happens to the people buying.

The bestest of MVP’s! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Aww thank you, I think they all do a pretty good job.

Love you too x

Yeah, reporting does little to nothing. It saddens me that this thread went under people’s radar, particularly blue posters. But whatever, if it gets them sub money, they don’t care.

Sadly there is a very big difference here. The private servers are infringing copyright and theft of intellectual property. That’s a crime, that can get a site shut down eventually. The sites selling Real Money Transactions are breaking in game rules, but no laws, Blizzard have no legal power to prosecute them and get the sites closed.

That said, I am fed up with all the adverts too. My addon Badboy blocks lots of them, but I still have many on my ignore list which grows daily.

I lost count at how many I’ve reported… at this point I gave up, I feel like no matter how much I report it doesn’t make any difference.

I also gave up on even trying to make gold, and instead I went the selling ultra over prices flasks , trinkets and boosts at the start of an expansion then living on the gold I made route.

Gold making was super fun, now it’s boring and feels unrewarding, I could make more gold in subscribing to a premium addon service, buying really cheap gold, boosting people than what I would if I put on my farmer gear, lit up some relaxing music and went on a farming spree for 1-3 hours.

I’ll keep saying it, blizzard needs to do a gold wipe, reset everything to 0, reset the economy, ban all gold paid services ingame and irl, apply some serious perma bans and then maybe gold will have actual meaning again.

I also report anyone selling boosts that lead to third party sites, but they never seem to go away.
