Do/ did you play ESO and how does it compare to WOW?

Better Transmog system.

Better crafting system.

Has Housing

Has Decor Crafting

Has Mount Skill System

Has no flying (yes, that can be a bonus)

Has no Skill Limitations (you can basically play everything on the same character)

Armor is color-able

Graphics have more Detail

Edit: Character Editor has a lot of customization options for height, chest size, face shape, eyes, hairs, lips, etc.

Edit 2: Has Controller/Console support, Dev Team is thinking about Crossplay/Crosssave. Major MMO on Console.

I try other MMOs but I always end up coming back to WoW after a month or two. This is my favourite MMO but I would love to see it introduce features we see regularly in other games, such as player housing.

I absolutely adore ESO, it’s my second go-to MMO. You can really lose yourself for a good few months doing all of the quests, it’s so lore enriched and everything is voice acted. I don’t personally do the dungeons and such that require multiple people (there being solo dungeons/public dungeons I’ll happily do) and dailies. Nor do I touch PvP. Once I’ve done the story, that’s it, I’ve either made an alt or logged off until new content is available, which to be fair is quite often through the year. Very nice for a break from WoW.

One thing I would say though, absolutely worth subbing for until you finish with it. Life without a crafting bag is awful. Also you don’t have to buy the DLCs then, you can play for free* (until sub ends)

eso is okey but nothing that can entertain me for long. it has its flaws but its worth checking out.

I do not like Bethesda games and it applies there too and characters look poorly no matter the amount of customization options. Also lack of content for my taste and combat feels meh.

the beauty of that is that with the sub they throw a ton of store currency at you every month, with that you can buy the dlc that you want, or anything else that takes your fancy.

options, they are a good thing.

has one major flaw in ESO though, you are very limited to the amount of items you can furnish your house with, minimalist decor would be an undertatement, especially in the larger houses, bit of a drag when it’s the one really important aspect of player housing

ESO, imo, is Skyrim without the shouts. I enjoyed it and still dip in for new content, but it doesn’t hold my attention.

I played it a few months ago and I really liked it, and I plan on going back to it soon.

Pros

The stories and world are interesting.
The way you get most of your abilities is by joining guilds/factions and you are not restricted to just one and can join them all if you want to.
I found it very freeing that the game was not telling me how I should play.
The professions are well designed. For crafting you can choose the look, level and stats separately for the item you wish to create. Their archeology is more involved then their wow counter part, you still need to get to the dig site and use a locator to find the item like wow, but then you have to excavate it via a mini game witch I found enjoyable. It also is a decent way of income.
The game does not require a sub but all of its expansions/DLCs are pretty much locked behind it.

Cons
It didn’t really feel like an MMO to me, I had next to no reason to group up with people.
The combat is lack luster, its not tab target like wow. You use a crosshair to aim your abilities making ground targeters a bit annoying to get used to.

Played it with a friend when it launched, we got through the first zone…

he didnt like the combat and stopped playing…

i got into a bad habit of making lots of alts to a point i burned myself out and never went back to it.

i don’t know, there’s veteran dungeons an other stuff that needs a party, trials for instance.
but the best thing is you join because you want to, not because you have to, we do ‘slow dungeons’ which is completely refreshing after WoW
but yes, the combat can be off putting, but it really isn’t that bad once you learn to weave spells into basic attacks.

Well it was my subjective experience and the game very much felt like a SP rather than an MMO, but I still liked the game for its other aspects.

ESO is a wonderful game and it’s definitely worth playing.
I’m currently having a blast over there and I finally feel like an adventurer who is put into a vast rich world.
Characters are believable, stories feel realistic and it’s very rich.
Every zone has a main story to follow, but also side quests.
Each zone also has delves which are like mini dungeons you can solo and get some sweet little rewards.
Quests will reward you with awesome cosmetics sometimes.
There’s a lot to discover and dig into, even after you complete the story you still have a bunch to discover and work on.

It feels like a proper RPG. It plays like one as well.
People complain about combat, whereas it’s not different from Skyrim/Oblivion/Single Player RPG combat.
It flows very well and it’s fun and action-driven since you can dodge-roll, block, and aim at the target, you also do light and heavy attacks with mouse buttons which is a very nice flavor.

I also like how you can press Shift to sprint, CTRL to crouch. There’s sneaking, stealing, you can be a criminal if you want to, you can become a vampire or a werewolf!
Game offers a lot of RPG factors which are lacking in WoW sadly.
Housing is superb, character customization is wonderful, transmog is glorious since you get to collect skins and you can dye pieces of armor, costumes as well.

Music is soothing and it fits every zone. It’s not annoying and sometimes I feel as though I’m playing Witcher 3!
You can also turn combat music off entirely. No idea why people are complaining about that since you can turn it off. I always have it off.

Overall, I am very positively surprised at ESO.
If you want to enjoy, relax and just have fun - you really wanna give it a go.
It doesn’t force you to ‘work’ and there’s no pressure playing it.

EDIT:
Can’t really compare it to WoW by the way.
WoW has story as a totally side-factor and it doesn’t favor RPers and more casual playerbase.
ESO is more about story and enjoying the well-built world rather than spending time in instanced content.
Still, ESO does have raids and more challenging dungeons if you’re looking for high-end content.

i disn’t play it at the start when allegedly it had a lot of problems, but hey, what MMO doesn’t?, what i do know is the evident amount of work they do to make it a good experience, and i will say it again, one of the best things about it is they DON’T SEE GATHERING AS A PROFESSION BLIZZARD!!, in fact you can master ALL professions and GUESS WHAT BLIZZARD, it still has not only a decent economy, but trading guilds too, your economy excuse is rubbish, as are the players that auction trade mats for exorbitant prices maling a mockery of your so called economy…’;.;’

unpopular opinion, but this for me is what made WoD the best expac since Wrath :stuck_out_tongue:
