Do DK's ever get better at a certain point?

I’m currently level 65 and i feel like Death knights are horrificly bad. Low damage, low utility, no mobility, made of paper…in PVP and PVE i feel like the weakest class in the game. I also don’t have a guild or anything to help me.

Does it get better at some point?

Not really, after death strike nerf in pvp u mostly sit at range pulling dots in bgs becouse we die so fast.

The best part is that dks is really fun to play.

I don’t quite share that opinion. I get squished like i’m made of paper…my damage is terrible and i lack anything worth playing dk for…

Maybe dk is not for u then, atleast i like playing dk at max lvl with gear, only boring thing is that death strike is nerfed in pvp.

If you are frost then it’s all downhill from here.

if you are unholy then you have plenty to look forward to, that’s if you are looking for everything except tankability in this tank class.

if blood then it will be a flat line…

That was my question while levelling a DK. Unfortunately, not really. Even at max level with decent gear I had the same issues; awful mobility, lack of survival, next to no damage (but hey, at least it was consistently low), and struggled with juggling runes and RP.
Obviously certain essences and azerite traits help, but they’ll be gone in SL and then you’re weaker than ever.
Before the Death Strike nerf you didn’t have to perform 50 of them just to heal back to half health.
DKs have a really interesting kit, and the core concept is pretty sweet. They just need some love, particularly Frost. Personally I think Chill Streak and Transfusion should really be baseline for them. Would definitely make it feel a lot better to play.

I am convinced that there are somehting evil happening in the design team, why we Death knights have to exist as we have done for so long, particularly frost, like some bias against the class or whatnot, just look at the current state of us in PvP, all specs, but frost in particular, locks can dump hyperstrong scaling chaosbolts back to back and are alot more tanky than we can ever we, rogues are…rogues… mages are…lolmagebooom, every one of these classes do an impressive damage when needed in PvP, aswell has having superiour mobility, superiour tankyness, and superiour utility, I get that classes must be different and be good at different things, but… when we have cold heart and frostwyrms fury being slapped with a 65% damage nerf in pvp since mid legion and it has stayed that way just cuz while other classes can do the full damage with similar spells with less cooldown, and i havent even mentioned DH’s in this, the only thing that somewhat made us bearable in PvP in bfa was our deathstrike, it is now worse than it was since the start of BfA.

I would very much like to know why it has to be this way? and sadly the only answer i see it is malevolent evil glee of someone having clout to block any attempt to make changes in the class team.

I’ve had similar experience while leveling DK’s in the couple past expansions, but I’d say that DK’s are actually not that horrible at max level. You just happened to ask a place which will complain that DK’s are terrible unless they’re literally the #1 pick for everything.

Whether you’ll like the spec or not is subjective though. DK’s are usually slower to play (slower pace gameplay and low mobility). That doesn’t change at max level.

you can’t really judge a class when it’s not max level yet. everything under lvl 120 is irrelevant.

What’s the difference between level 80 and 120 if after level 80 you get no skills? only 2 talents and that’s it.

Gear/ End game content stats/enchants etc.

In BFA - Haste.
At low lvl you barely cross the 20% mark, at max level the lowest you are is 30% (ideally)

Most DPS dks as UH have over 70% haste (those at high ilvl) and those playing frost are at 50% + crit

@OP if you don’t mind getting hotfix nerfed quickly after you reach a ‘playable/good’ state you’ll be fine. - Otherwise warriors are always great if you’d like to stick to plate or rogues/mages.

Yes it will do more damage, but mechanical wise it stays the same, still no utility or mobility.

damage is relatively low…
but the flow is a lot better at very high haste %.
Something you don’t have at expansion start.

at 120u get access to magus undead, the dudes are awesome with haste, get 3 of those

3 magus and vision of perfection is all u need, then get as much haste as possible

apocalypse ghous and magus will be ur strongest dmg, so make sure to buff them, idealy u want 3xmagus + 3xfestermight traits, luckly there are plenty of pieces in pvp and pve with both

edit, swaping targets as unh still sucks AF

the point is that at 120 you get the gear and stats that make your class work (that goes for every class, not just DK). Once you get some gear / essences / corruptions you can compare em to other classes, otherwise you can’t.

Blizz doesn’t balance classes below 120, sucks but it is what it is.

edit: I pretty much main a DK at the moment, Im posting on my old main

Second both of the above. Classes atm are built on BfA mechanics like azerite gear, essences and corruption stacking and are bound to feel abyssmal at worst and lacklustre at best without them.

What is this current crap about DKs being bad? Are you serious? Have you tried pressing buttons other than WASD?
Nothing wrong with DKs. We are power houses when geared. And yes, gear is the biggest factor.
Also classes arent balanced pre 120.
So sick of this.

Of course other classes will be better in X area – but that doesnt mean DKs are bad. Imagine DKs being on par on dmg, durability and mobility with all other “better classes”. There wouldnt be a point of having other classes than DK then.
DK toolkit is immense! Just look at the tricks blood has. God damn! Glory!

Yes Im biased.
