Do hunters have magic ?

Hello, please tell me where the hunters took the magic and whether they have it at all . If they use magic, what school . Is obtained, that dwarfs can use nature magic and to appeal the wild gods, and night elves to appeal to the elements . Or is it all game mechanics and a hunter not a magical class ?
Thanks

I think the consensus is that they don’t have any magic, or don’t use it. There are some abilities that might give the impression that they use magic, like Arcane Shot, but the chances are higher that the arrows used were already given those magical properties.

Hunters also use the Elements (for traps, and especially the Survival spec) for some abilities, but they only touch upon the physical qualities of these Elements, unlike Shamans or Druids.

Farstriders used to have Druidic magic learned to them to fill their roles as… Elven farstriders.

Dark Rangers replaced Druidic magic with Necromantic magic. I know Shandris Feathermoon is a Sentinel, yet used to be a Priestess so I assume she calls upon Elune and uses her “magic” in her fight.

Yep, just to expand a little on that, the impression I got was that the Farstriders are actually quite mystical in a way, this is definitely reinforced by phrases like ‘Dark Rangers have lost their Farstrider powers and replaced them with Shadow ones’ (Specifically referencing Sylvanas) thus indicating that there definitely -are- some Powers that Farstriders have. I think the general vibe Blizz are going for, is that the Farstriders are the vestigial remains of Druidry in Blood Elf society, as Moridunum says, further to this, the Farstriders are described as being incredibly resilient to natural diseases and poisons, more so than other Blood Elves.

Sentinels are somehow similar, however rather than it being Druidism, it is, as said, the Priestess angle as well.

However if you want the real proof that Hunters can be played as being magical in nature (I mean you can just play ‘bloke with a gun and his pet dog’ if you like, nothing wrong with that) then we need look no further than the dialogue between Vol’jin and Tyrathan Khort, in ‘Shadows of the Horde’ Tyrathan is a human Hunter, and in conversation, Vol’jin asks him where his Companion Pet is, why has he not just summoned it?. Tyrathan replies that due to (Actually, no that’s spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read it yet), but basically both of them, Vol’jin, and Tyrathan (who lets face it, would know) accept it as a complete fact that if he wanted, Tyrathan could summon his Companion out of thin air.

Now that’s magic…

Someone did mention an episode in the comics I think, which are canon, where a Hunter does just that, summons their animal buddy out of thin air.

So to be fair, it appears that like most classes in Warcraft, there is indeed an element of some sort of magic, in how Hunter’s work.

I think it is fair to say that lorewise the most powerful hunters use magic. Regular rangers, archers and other bow-wielding combatants don’t put if we’re going by the assumption the the most powerful of all classes are equally matched in battle then yes the hunters, rogues and warriors all have to have some magic.

Hunters had mana in the old days, so hunters can certainly be magic masters  Schools were nature & damage.

So lorewise they are magic.
Gamewise the mana pool was removed.
