Do I keep my covenant?

My main (undead monk, level 60) now has Kyrian as a covenant. When I add the tWW expansion and choose the level 70 boost for another character, will he automatically get this covenant too or do you have to choose again (or even play all four storylines again?)

Every character picks covenant separately, but most unlocked cosmetics and mounts are usable by all your characters.

You won’t have to play the storylines again. If you choose to go to Oribos on a fresh character (there’s no reason you need to!) then you’ll get Fatescribe something-or-other starts a dialog with you and ask if you want to do the campaign, or move to Threads of Fate where you just go straight to the table and pick your covenant.

Only your first character was mandated to do the story quests. Thankfully :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

That said, if you are using a non-leather character and want to use Kyrian transmogs, you’ll have to earn them for the new alt. You still don’t need to do the story line unless you choose to - and since 3/4 of the story is for the wrong covenant, I recommend not doing.

Why does it matter?

On your new character you will get to choose which covenant you want again when you start the shadowlands quests. There isn’t a preset.
But, either way, it isn’t a permanent choice. You can talk to npc’s where you first chose one and change covenant if you want.
After your first character, you can choose the covenant imediatly on an alt by speaking to the aforementioned characters after the introductory scenario. It used to be called threads of fate. I’m not sure what happens now, but i am sure you don’t need to do the whole questing with the new character to choose one.

Keep in mind covenant abilities are only useable in the shadowlands. They do not carry over to other content.

Shadowlands has pretty good Skips available.
You can skip the Maw Intro in SW / Org and get straight to Oribos.
Then you can pick Threads of Fate and skip the Main Campaign.
Then you can skip the intro to the Covenant Sanctum by selecingn “I know my way around”.
You can skip the Korthia and Zerith Mortis Intro sections too and go straight to those zones.

This tends to be done by selecting “I’ve seen this story before” from various NPCs that offer quests starting each section.

Some caveats:

Only if you’ve completed the campaign once and also need to be level 60+ when you first enter Oribos.

Need to have done the intro for that covenant on at least one character. Each covenant is treated separately. Also if you’ve completed the covenant campaign on a different character you can unlock soulbinds straigt away on subsequent characters.

In general I believe all skips require you to have done it once on that account.

This I did not know! Guess I ended up doing all of them somewhere along the way in SL.

Yeah they really want you to know the sanctum layout. You might be able to skip the torghast part if you’ve done it on a different covenant but I don’t remember.

Didn’t they disable ToF ?

Yes and no. Sometimes it pops up, sometimes it doesn’t. I guess what you quoted there is the criteria. So if you’re a “leveling character”, meaning below 60, it seems you don’t get ToF. But if you’re 60+ and thus a “Dragonflight character” it seems you do.

If I remember correctly the criteria was that the character had to be created before the removal was implemented.

Did I somehow went 2 years back in time?

They removed it as a means of leveling. So you must be level 60 to access it. You can’t choose SL in Chromie Time and then skip the Campaign.
It’s not like leveling through Threads of Fate was a good experience anyhow, there wasn’t enough side quests outside of the campaign for 50 to 60 (I think there was about 4 levels worth). So you had to do dungeons or Torghast (when it was added as a leveling method later on) to get to 60.

So ToF is really only there now to skip the campaign if you’re already high level and have done it before.

What do you mean? I leveled each class (except my main ofc) with ToF without doing dungeons or thorghast at the start of the expansion. I did the side quests and bonus objectives and it was enough.

You must have done them all in all the zones.
Which would have been ok for one alt.
I had an alt in each expansion so they did the side quests in their covenant zone. And that wasn’t enough to level.

They should have had the Covenant Campaign story available to level rather than just be at max level.

Well yeah obviously. Why would 1 zone be enough for 10 levels?

Also I want to point out that I am not defending ToF, it was just as miserable as the rest of SL. All players should avoid that expansion.
