Yeah. You’ll need to do the new layers to get “Soul Cinders” aka “Uber Soul Ash” to upgrade it.

There’s also some way to get Soul Cinders outside of Torghast, I’m not quite sure which, but they’ll give detrimentally less Soul Cinders.
