Do i need visions to upgrade my cloak?

I personally dont enjoy visions and farming vessels for it due to visions feeling very repetive.

Is there any other way to upgrade the cloak or am I stuck with doing visions:(?

You can do Once a week :N’Zoth or Vision (Or both) until you catch the current maximal corruption resistance (will be 53)

Until level 15 yes, only visions.

Once you reach lvl15 it turns into a “do a full clear of kill Nzoth in any difficulty but lfr” quest

I assume people will be creating last boss only runs at normal difficulty for cape upgrade ,like it was case with ABT trinket upgrade runs.

No, you can do the to-15 journey with those as well. Visions can upgrade your cloak to 15. Malefic Cores can help with that, or they can be used to upgrade it past 15. A cumulative extra 3 CR available per week.

Since Malefic Cores are unique it doesn’t really pay off to sit on them either. And, since you can get two per week while you are behind the current cap, you will eventually catch up, so it’s not an unrecoverable waste to use a Malefic Core for a step visions can handle.

If you check the use effect text, it has both the post-15 bonus corruption resistance as well as the regular upgrade effect. To me that seems it can do either job, depending on your cloak progress.

I believe I also read a blue post that sounded like this would be the case.

Well my understanding of the blue post was instead that it would only have a catch-up post lvl15 with the ‘you can use it twice a week as long as you’re behind’ or something along those lines

But Ty, if that’s truly the case then that’s great, having more upgrades per week and not having to run 15 visions in a row on every alt is still something I guess.

Yeah, there probably actually was only one blue post on the subject and it doesn’t really say this, but the Wowhead item info still supports my guess. I really hope it works that way, because I’m all set to do 14 and 15 with cores next week, and then fully catch up the week after =)
