so a new player to 9.1.5, what chance do they have at the mage tower? none…why, because they dont have old gear, even if they do farm old gear and wepons, with sockets, gems are selling on my server for 18k, 18k for a god damn gem, yes its a timewalking event, we go back in time to relive the event, but let us use our current setups, soulbinds, gear etc etc,
now prob going to get the plebs with #getgood, or people like i did it, it was easy! yeah thats why i call you the plebs of wow, dont help other people in the community, you just like feeding your egos…pleb means lacks intelligence.
yeah make it hard, and make it so you have to think about your next move, but let us use our current setup and abilities, new players dont have the old “stuff”, most players dont have time to farm the old “stuff”, people work 12 hours a day, they just might only have 1-2 hours of game time a day/night to play.
i could go on and on with this rant, why this is so messed up, wow tokens, boost services, satisfaction of the game, about the mount soaring spelltome, but sadly blizzard dont seem to listen right now.
You don’t need old gear. Most - if not all - the mage tower challenges have been beaten on live already in Shadowlands gear alone, without old gear, without old enchants, without old sockets or anything.

I used 3 pieces on my warrior doing my challenge, but I already had those from using it in normal Timewalking dungeons, but I only used 2 weapons and shoulders, nothing else was changed. Didn’t even use old flasks and potions. Nor drums.
First of all , you don’t need old gear that is just min maxing. That won’t make your %90 wipe a kill pull. Max %10 difference.
Secondly , there is nothing gatekeeping you to go try it.
And last of all , it is a damn challenge. Never meant for someone who only does world quests or lfr to clear it. Atm only problem is some healer and tank challenges which needs a little bit tuning rest is fine.
Like i said you don’t really need any of that and even with those i’m %15000 sure you will fail cuz they only does like %5-10 difference. This is a challenge not a free loot thing.
I’ve gotten kruul to 7% with SL gear, died to messing up and not to his annihilates. I’ll probably kill him eventually if I don’t mess it up when I’ve gotten this far. I did try with cheesing it at first with the mechagon trinket but I decided to not go with that, in case they nerf it. I don’t want to get used to doing it with that if it does get nerfed.
I’ll probably have to get some other trinket from SL though, maybe the sanguine depths one.
but thats kinda of my point, say a nurse who, he/she has worked 14 hour shift, they get like 2 hours of game time say every 2-3 days for bit of enjoyment, they want do mage tower for a tmog set, but they already farmed for 9.1.5, they dont have the best gear, but they around 215-220 ilvl, i know it scales down, they dont have time to go get 3 pieces of gear from normal timewalking, they shouldnt have to! My point is really timewalking should be for fun and you should be able to use current setup and abilities, in dungeons you can in mage tower you cant.
i do have old gear/stuff on my mage and warlock, i know i should be able to do it, all my rant was about is, a new player or a player with limit of time, wont be able to do this, well i dont think they will, the way it currently is, i know alot of people i play with whom are epic players are struggling.
Mate sorry to say that but time investment = better rewards.
This is basically same for every other mmorpg. This time gear scales down so you can basically get it with your skill without needing to farm the gear.
Asking more then this will just kill the fun of being a challenge for others.

im not angry, im using my old gear, the title is “do new players have a chance at the mage tower”, i just think its a bit unfair against new players who want a tmog set, me personally, i think the mage set look like dog s%$t
All monk that I have seen with new set have done challange with full bis gear. So duck off each gem is 1% stat bonus! i got 18 gems so it is 18% more stats!!
I understand that some of the encounters are overtuned because they are
but if you ask if new player should do mage tower i think he shoudn’t be able to pull it off in 1 day

Since TBC till end of WOTLK i didn’t do raiding because i was garbage
I had so many different things to think about and try to become better to understand this game

And if new player wants to go for MAGE TOWER he should do it as any other player
learning the encounter and do it over time as any other player

you go in 1 day and you clear mythic?
no you progress fight you are on 1 boss for week maybe more to understand when and what to do
And if people who came into the game can’t understand that wow was and always (i hope) will be progresion based game then mage tower is not for you.
You can, though. Every mage tower has been cleared with nothing but shadowlands gear. Most of them in perfectly average gear, without any fancy and rare trinkets and stuff.
You do not need old gear. You do not need BiS shadowlands gear. You do not need to spend tens of thousands of gold on consumables to min-max it. You can, and old gear and expensive consumables can make the challenges considerably easier, but none of them are impossible without.
Had him pretty much dead, used feral charge to get back and for some reason I charged across the whole platform and the small guys started aoeing and got dragged into velen as a result of me being charged across the platform and he died.
These pathing bugs with charges etc are a joke. I can’t take bugs any more, they should have weeded them out before they made the mage tower even.
