Used to have it every year at my great nan’s place, then my nan and then my parents place.
…Also to mess with the neighbors. My nan lived in an apartment and did not give a hoot. You could smell it in the building for days after.
But ye I very much rather switch it out with some fried perch or similar
Though then again the very not so subtle flavor makes it special. Pickled herring is probably a better substitute… Or fiskbullar =P

I usually spend about 50+ myself.
But I know a dwarf wannabe that eats cheese almost daily.
I saw him spend about 150+€ once. It was beautiful and sad at the same time 
Clown usually goes for 3-4 small pieces of creamy moldy cheese
Never been to one yet…

the cheddar gorge has a cheese shop like that but its buried deep inside a cave, they store the cheese there because they mature better in the humid temperatures.
