Do people avoid playing hero classes?

Hi there.

So, I don’t know about others, but personally, when I started WoW a little less than a year ago I kept hearing everywhere that hero classes start on a higher level - so I kept avoiding them, until I finally decided to give DH a try and realized they only start at level 8 - not much of an advantage. I want the leveling experience and as a beginner, everyone keeps saying the game starts at lvl 60, but so far on all of my characters I’ve found the leveling experience the best part of the game. Interest quickly fades away after hitting lvl 60 - it feels like there’s nothing to play for. Which brings me to my original point, that is why I avoided the hero classes. However, now that I’ve tried DH, I truly enjoy how it plays.

I was just wondering if others were avoiding hero classes for the same reasons as I did or maybe for some other reasons? Curious to hear your takes.

theyre the newest classes monk,dh,dk are all very low played followed by shamans
people just like other classes more and dh is consider a pepega noob 123 class maybe some people just dont like the boring rotation idk

But look at DK it takes a few addons

but for my perspective DH is fun Eye Beam is fun to press its glide and dashes are cool but yeah the rotation its just so boring if i press my dmg buttons i wanna feel smth some cool sound or like a good feeling if u know what i mean and i only get that from eyebeam

I always laugh when someone says “you need to have a rotation of 10 buttons or else” while the DH is outplaying them in every aspect of the game

Could you please up and move this topic to the Retail forum - the pencil next to the topic line gives you this option.

My bad! Thanks for letting me know

The point of the higher level for DKs and DHs was to not force players to have to level from 1 before playing this new class in the new expansion.
Although they blundered with DKs by making their level be 55 when Wrath content was 70 to 80, meaning a new DK didn’t need to play Kalimdor / Eastern Kingdoms but did have to replay Outland to reach 70 before heading off to Northrend.
They did better with DH by making them 98 when Legion was 100 to 110. meaning you were straight into Legion content with your new DH.

We’ve had a level squish since then and these classes are no longer brand new and so they’ve made DKs and DHs down to lower level starting (still not 1 but close).

If they do add another class at some stage (not very likely now) they’ll either have to give a boost option or start them at / near previous expac max level.

I don’t play a DH because it’s restricted to elves and because I don’t find the class fantasy interesting at all.

And I don’t really play DK either, because I prefer ranged gameplay.

Hero classes used to have a greater advantage. Most classes start at level 1 but DK started at 58 while DH started at 98. So before Shadowlands it was a big advantage. That said, DH is the noob class, same with paladins and BM hunters.

I play whatever I’m feeling at the time. Don’t really make a decision based on what the class is labelled as.

Lots of class flavour and cool animations and I’ll play anything as long as it’s not rock bottom underpowered and shunned by many.

I agree with you about DH though, super fun being mobile, and the class feels like you could play it on a controller like you’re in a single player game

These are often the type people that go “lol 2 button spec” while also having been a mage in Vanilla or even Classic and hitting Frost Bolt 99% of the time.

Since the squish they no longer exist.

Personaly I never liked hero classes very much. I prefer Mage, Rogue, Priest etc.

I avoid them because I don’t really like their fantasies and gameplay.
That’s all.

If tinker ever becomes a class, I’ll try it.

If pandaren could be DH I would reroll in a heartbeat

On the Level 38 DH? Yeah i highly doubt that.

Personally I would call the DH rotation confusing rather than boring…

I dont like playing melee classes
They have yet to add a ranged class to the game

But I’m also very happy with playing a warlock.

Hero classes aren’t anything special gameplay wise.

My current main is monk right now, and I have an alt DK that I really like playing (only unholy though).

DH I do not play because it is elf restricted, and with that it lost all its appeal it had for me. I do not even have a max leveled alt from the class.

DKs were back when they were introduced to the game. They were, at least, new. But back then no class started out at level 55, no class had it’s own introduction and no class had the DK rune/runic power system. They were special and very, VERY overpowered.
