I think it adds up some immersion to the game, which makes it appealing for players, I am currently playing one and I’m finding it enjoyable to plan your next move, preparing yourself before embarking into a challenging objective and being aware of the environment.
People still play hardcore. The realm populations are rather wack though. Stitches EU is basically alliance dominated while Nek´rosh is horde dominated.
A merge of said realms would benefit the hc community.

We run 2 of the bigger guilds on Nekrosh linked via greenwall and have around 1500 active characters, some are alts obviously. But the community is not dead, 2 raiding guilds that try to progress, one has recently started nax. When you hit max level you can do endgame dungeons, raids, farm rep, level alts, just like on era except when you die you’re dead
Bigger part of population play HC for challenge and leave after hitting 60.
However there are fraction of players that continue to play after hitting 60 at least on Stitches.
You realize you wasted your time and quit like everyone else did.

Im thinking of starting again with an ssf character.
I did 1-60 on normal hc and quited.
But for me the game on hc is 1-60.
However i still find it enjoyable just doing 1-60 with different classes.
Maybe if i somehow ended up with more 60 characters i could try raiding and such.

Why bother about endgame? Hardcore is the only mode where you can feel real adrenaline in your veins.
