I was simming my character using rank 3 vs rank 1 embellishments, and the rank 3 simmed a bit higher than rank 1 by 0.1%, but the actual numbers seem to be the same
is this because the proc rate increases and doesnt show it?
No rank 1 and rank 3 give the same effect number wise only reason to use a rank 3 embellishment is to make crafting easier as rank 1 embellishment add more crafting difficulty. 0.1% difference sounds like its in the margin of error as they should sim the exact same. obviously how simming works is they take an average of many sims so numbers can sometimes be different you can see the same thing when sim suggests you switch your ring slots around even though that doesn’t actually do anything.
The rank at the embalishment dont increase its power, its the itemlevel
The rank is only for crafting important, the crafter needs lesser skill for a higher rank
Quality 1 of an embellishment adds 25 recipe (meaning crafting) difficulty
Quality 2 of an embellishment adds 15 recipe difficulty
Quality 3 of an embellishment adds 5 recipe difficulty

For context most recipes are designed to be guaranteeable at 636 with all rank 3 mats.
There is usually a 5-10 skill breathing room either side with some recipes needing an extra 10 skill above the rank 3 everything and some giving you 5-10 skill points to play around with
I usually recommend to my clients to use a rank 2 embellishment and it’s normally the biggest gold save for the amount of skill breathing room you are given.
The only time to use lower rank is if the crafter is concentrating but do be aware that specifically for rank 2 mats this will cause problems recrafting
