People advertising in game for this or that seems to be a thing and since I play a lot of toons I have gone through the process of reporting them all. The thing is that it´s the same people day in and day out I see, I got a note about one of them stating that the matter had been looked into and the person had been punished but overall it seems that it´s the exactly same people every single day spamming the same things.

Generally what they do is they spam on a toon for a hour, then delete and recreate a different toon with slightly but same name to avoid the Squelch that gets placed over their account for accumulating too many reports. Eventually a GM penalises the whole account for what it is, an advert bot but then they move to the next account and rinse and repeat.
If this is about other regular players advertising at spots where they shouldn’t or spamvertise too much, generally they get a week silence and learn their lesson very quick from that.

Exactly. The post needs clarification to get a proper answer… but as a general rule:
If it boosting spam in teh services channel that you´re bothered by, then “/leave services”" is the proper solution, because that channel was created explicity for boosting spam to keep it out of /2 and make trade chat useable again. ANd sou will not find anything other than boosting services in there, because just as normal people report boosters spamming in /2, the boosters are entitled to do the same if someone wants to offer their crafting skills in /services.
If on the other hand you´re seeing Boosting ads in /1,/2, /3 or the group finder, those are IME generally dealt with swiftly and harshly. Not instantly, but 1-2 days at most seems to be the norm.
Or is it some other kind of advert being spammed?

Just grab “BadBoy”, it’ll filter out spam while auto reporting them.
You can also make a blacklist filter to block stuff containing them.

It should be renamed badbody1 lol as we have body 1 and 2 now .

It automatically filters out spam before you even see it due to however the author coded it to detect typical spam behavioural patterns and keywords. Those that rarely get through are somehow still filtered but you’re given the option to report them clicking on an interactable link in chat.
It doesn’t AUTOMATICALLY automatically auto-report. You still have to click to do so.
Not exactly sure how the author made something so effective at blocking spam, but shows how inept Blizz are.
Everything can work. You can get people banned/silenced for just a “hello”, you only need enough people to report the person.
So in your case it’s simply because people don’t report enough or just don’t find it bothersome.
This is not correct, as is mentioned the most the system can place on you is a Squelch earlier which is a temp removal of social features until a GM reviews the reports.
