Do you agree with Blizzard's default race/class choices?

These are the default choices. Most of them are fitting.

ALLIANCE

  • Human Priest

  • Dwarf Hunter

  • Night Elf Druid

  • Gnome Warlock

  • Draenei Paladin

  • Worgen Death Knight

  • Pandaren Monk

  • Void Elf Mage

  • Lightforged Draenei Paladin

  • Dark Iron Dwarf Warrior

  • Kul Tiran Warrior

  • Mechagnome Warrior

HORDE

  • Orc Warrior

  • Undead Warlock

  • Tauren Shaman

  • Troll Shaman

  • Blood Elf Mage

  • Goblin Rogue

  • Pandaren Monk

  • Nightborne Mage

  • Highmountain Tauren Hunter

  • Mag’har Orc Warrior

  • Zandalari Troll Warrior

  • Vulpera Rogue

Vulpera rogue ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Best rogue.

I agree with all others, Except the Mechagnome warrior.
They’d be better looking with a High tech looking rifle and robot pet in my opinion.

Edit: Erm… Gnome should be Mage as well. I’d think.
Worgen = Rogue. There! final edit I promise!

I’m sorry, where does it say these are the default choices?

Try make a new character and see which “random” combo you get.

Trolls have always been more hunters and warriors to me more than Shamans.
But it fits.

Don’t agree with Human Priest. Notable Humans to me are either Warriors or Paladins.

Also don’t agree with Worgen DK, but I suppose no race really fits DK default.

Create a new character, switch across the races and pay attention to the classes the game picks for you.

Agree. Apparently they changed Worgen to Rogues on the ptr.

Most hilarious choice are definitely the Mechagnomes. Default one should be hunter to be honest.

I’d like any race, any class combo myself… the story was butchered ages ago.

These combinations of race and class works when one wants to make a bank alt fast. However, I prefer having different race/class combo for my alts so I can easier distinguish them from each other. It does then not helps that I am getting suggested combinations I already have.

  • Do I want to make my new bank alt a Gnome Warlock? No, that is both my main’s and my food storage’s combination.
  • How about Worgen Death Knight? Absolutely not, I do not want to spend the coming hour doing class quest before I can get my Worgen to Stormwind. And I already went through this with my herb storage.
  • Draenei Paladin then? Exodar is indeed a nice quiet city, but I already have a Draenei Paladin hardware goods storage.
  • Gnome Warlock AGAIN???
  • No, not yet another Draenei Paladin!
  • Phew, a Human Priest. Something already not used at last, after 20 shuffles. (Horde = reshuffle. Do not take it personally, but my characters are all Alliance and need bank alts belonging to this very same faction.)

I think that they should pick mage for all races that can be mages.

I recall someone writing a thread a while ago about how Zandalari and Kul Tirans don’t have a default class - they just stay with whatever class was selected before you click onto them. Has this been fixed, or does the above list show warrior because that’s what was already selected for the previously viewed race?
For me, Zandalari would be better with druid as default. For Kul Tiran I am less sure - shaman maybe for the tidesage connection?

This is correct. They don’t have set defaults.

The only ones otherwise changed in Shadowlands are Humans being Warriors and Worgen being Rogues.

Undead used to be Rogues (apparently in Legion).

Worgen one is just weird. First, they don’t get to play their unique starting scenario and second, isn’t it a bit much to have a werewolf who is also an undead harbinger of death with vampiric powers? They should change the music to some Linkin Park and suggest the name “Razoredge” to really seal the deal with the 13-year-olds.

Which makes actually sense - but why not Human Paladins? It’s THE iconic human class, after all.

Gnome default should be mage, velf should be warlock.

The issue with gnome is they don’t have an archetypal class. They’re defined by their engineering. They produce good mages, good warlocks and make good rogues, but none of them define a gnome clearly like a monk does a Pandaren, a druid nelf, mage belf etc

Roll on tinker.

I think they fit a lot… But as some others point out, I have a small problem with the human not being a warrior or paladin.

And I think the worgen should be a hunter, I think the hunter fits the identity of the worgen well.

And Zandalari a shaman, with the background they have

i think hunter and priest are also good fits for night elf.

The only one that’s weird to me, Should be a hunter imo.
