I had a conversation with my friend about wow and bfa. He was saying bfa was made too slow gameplay and rotationwise. To me ice ALWAYS considered wow a slow game. Theres downtime between each button and rotations rarly change by anything significant. To me all the speed of wow is from dealing wirh dungeon / raid mechanics or pvp positioning and interupts. Im not looking to prove either point, we both accepted our opinions. Im just curious
I mostly play healer, really only dps in open world. So maybe thats the reason i consider it slow enough. But outside of high keys and raids (i dont pvp) ive always treated wow as a more chill game to play. The only class I considered fast was legion demolock. There was no chill time to be had.
What do you guys think? Do you consider wow to be fast paced or slow? Is there some aspect of the game im just missing? Has bfa made it too slow, if so how?
Bonus info if you care:
I play Monk (mw/brew), Priest (holy/shadow), Warrior (prot, arms) in that order. I played back in bc, wotlk and cata but just leveling dungeons nothing major. Only got proper into it and end game in legion.
Friend plays Hunter(bm), priest(disc) and dk and played since vanilla
In 8.0 it felt bad to go back to +5% haste or something. So yeah it felt slow. But with azerite traits & some gear it really changed.
Do all dps classes have a +haste trait ? i know warlocks, DH and MM Hunter have one and it’s one of the most satisfying trait imo
Now i reach +100% haste per eye beam (30sec CD) and can go up to +165% with enchants, procs & berzerk. At least for my Havoc DH i have no issue with the pace of the gameplay.
Not quite “slow” It’s more a matter of being predictable.
Since I played vanilla I whould consider BfA far from slow in comparison… However everythings relative. Compared to later stages of legion, Bfa feels slow etc.
But no I whould not say i consider the game slow, not even back in 8.0 I thought BfA felt slow. It’s like comparing Sekiro to Dark souls, their both soulsborne games however sekiro’s gameplay are way faster since the game demands that speed. Dark souls are significantly slower, but are also built around both you and the enemies have long and well telegraphed swings.
BfA with it’s GCD changes etc. feels just right unless you try to pretend It’s a different game. Doing one action about 1,5-1 second are fine for a game like WoW.
Maining a DH… and stacking 3x azerite to get near 3000 haste every 30 secs…
My finger actually hurts after a m+ lol.
I’d honestly say its perfect as it is for every other class. You think its slow, play final fantasy 14 (it’s twice as slow), elder scrolls is much slower with way less skills etc.
Lower levels of haste and more gcds made it a bit slower in comparision to, for example, legion, so your friend is right.
However, you are also right: wow has never been a particularly fasted paced game. There are very few classes that make you actually feel pressure in regard to reaction times.
For me wow always has been slow and static. That’s what makes it terrible game to watch gameplays. If I am not the on pressing the buttons I don’t feel angaged with what happens on the screen and not a lot of happens there.
