after a smoll break I wanna try something new. Do you recommend elemental shaman rn? do you think it’s fun in pvp and pve? I’m stuck between ele and spriest atm so I really want to hear your opinion

Pve opinion: i have a love hate relationship.
I hate it because of the rng in both raids but especially in mythic plus with the wildfire build.
I hate it because of a lack of St/AoE middle ground.
I hate it because we’re forced into fire specc
But I mostly hate it because raid and mythic plus require different gear sets - mastery vs crit
I love it because it’s still all elements everywhere and it makes our casting animations and effect just awesome (I’d wager best spellcasting in game)
I love it because I love the class fantasy. Nothing is more Warcraft than shaman and paladin in my books (and warlock).
I love it because the LvB single target in raids is stupidly simple and fun to play.
I love it because with recent buffs and the right gear lightning can be viable in m+
I love it because chain lightning, though underused, just screams unlimited Powah.
I love it because I’ve played it since vanilla and though it took a big hit with its class fantasy because of fire build and lack of totems it’s still pretty nice
I also love the vast array of utility…sometimes
As you can see the hate is mostly about practical issues, the love is mostly about feelings for the class. I’d say ele shaman isn’t in a great spot right now, but it’s a fun specc nevertheless.
PvP-wise dunno really, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a great time (according to the forum)

I really hate being forced into the Wildfire build. Lightning is the way to go, but there are clear issues (ST damage).
PvP wise Ele was insane this season. With some meta shifts it’s still strong but not a dominator it was before. It’s hilarious that in PvE Lightning is the way to go while in PvP it’s everything built around Lava Burst. I think it’s just the difference of how we deal damage.
Elemental Shaman always used to be my 1st Alt behind my Balance Druid which ive mained since Wrath, but too many changes for me have ruined the fun, doesnt feel like the class i started playing back in Wrath.
Cooldowns…lacking… Fire/Storm Elemental are growing old, movement issues with them, out of range problems, And problems with Synergy. If you take Storm Elemental, you got to go lightning route, but doesnt work, because dominated aoe because of too much maelstrom generation is Earthquake, and makes chainlightning just poor.
Ascendance, still visually just looks awful and outdated, and its not an ‘elemental’ cooldown, as all the spells are fire…needs a complete rework.
Then the same applys to the general gameplay. Like with issue with chainlightning/earthquake, right now Elemental Blast is topping your dmg, with massive hits, but running Lightning Rod, you barely use it for a couple of seconds in aoe, because you cap maesltrom, or proc another and cap with Aftershock…you proc lava surge…the whole issue is talents just dont work together properly,
Then visually and cosmetically, it doesnt look good, spells are outdated on graphics, and other classes like Balance Druid have much more sparkle to them, and when the spec is all fire and lightning, it should be all sparkle and brightness.
Ghost Wolf is a poor mans, druid Travel Form, something i try to spend as little time in as possible, even the glyphed forms, they arent shaman related one bit.
Gust of Wind, is what should be worked into mobility, having it increase your movement speed, like your being pushed by air.
Think they’ve added too much trying to freshen it up, but just doesnt work together anymore. and go back to Legion Stormkeeper, that was just amazing then.
would be more fun if they would delete earth quake
