Do you greet?

Been doing alot of dungeons the past few days and i was shocked how few groups/people did use the chat.

Wouldnt u say its polite to greet someone back if they greet u? Seems like 80% of the players(i met) think its not necessary.

Seems like people are not playing an MMO anymore. Kinda sad.

Just wanted to share my thoughts. Maybe u guys made other experience.

People stopped doing it a while ago. In bgs it’s more common. Though people will get vocal there if the bg isn’t going well either.

typing takes time and most people you meet in a pug you will never meet again. I usualy say hello back but wont go into deep convo. Not wirth the effort anymore these days

pretty much all the talking I do in dungeons is hi and bye.

It’s very simple, if nobody else greets the group - I am out of there.

Experience has taught me that the ones who don’t even say hi only start talking to swear when the run goes different from what they see as normal.

And well, not sure if it’s too common nowadays. I don’t do many m+ runs or group content overall anymore. In BfA it was already quite minimal (communication).

i greet when i feel like it tbh … also hold conversations with other teammates while we run which usually results in multiple runs with the same group afterwards…

but i also dont play the game anymore and neither do a lot of the other casual community … so the lack of greetings disappeared with our subs most likely.

I start playing Guild Wars 2 and let me say that I am so surprised that GW2 community is so friendly and supportive unlike WoW community.

Such interactions dragged me to play and explore GW2 more.

yea i had many a fun conversations while running fractals in gw2

good conversations in ff14 as well

wow conversations are a bit more touch and go … from personal experience… usually i found myself speaking out in defense of someone getting accused of being a bad player…

but sometimes people are genuinely nice … sometimes.

I do but only if they greet me first. What can i say im antisocial :P.

Always, and always say thanks for the group and bb gl after. Personally think it’s a bit weird and creepy when people say nothing .

especially if you ask a question and it is just complete silence… so you ask it again right in front of the person lol and they still ignore it and continue as if it didn’t happen lol.

im not the most social of people…

but i come from vanilla wow … and well community and social aspect was amazing back then… i still try to bring that same vibe whenever i play a mmorpg… even if others don’t feel the same.

I say thank you at the end of the dungeon. But I don’t really have time to say hello because there is always one person that pulls quickly

I say hi at the start, I say thanks and bye at the end. During I’m too busy pushing my rotation to type in chat.
When I was still in a guild and running content with guildies we used voice chat in discord. Probably that’s the biggest reason why nobody chats in in-game services anymore.

Before I quit the horrible game that is Retail WoW during BfA, I always greeted and tried to converse a little during dungeons. Most of the time, however, the other players didn’t engage. I would, at best, get a ā€œhiā€, and that was it.

Thank god for Classic.

Sometimes, I do if someone else says hi. Ever since I’ve been kicked before for ā€˜talking too much’ during a run inbetween pulls I stopped trying to make small-talk and be nice and all that since I do get a deserter debuff and have to re-sit another queue.

Since WoW has no protection against vote kick abuse, it’s kind of expected. It’s great in classic especially early on when it released everyone was so happy to talk and chat especially with dungeons being generally slower paced for the majority.

classic early on brought a lot of the vanilla community back out of hiding for a time period…

a lot of the early social aspect and even some of it which still exists today can be potentially linked to that vanilla player base which returned to the game just for classic.

Usually keep it to:
Hello
thanks for the heals (if tank or dps)
have a good day.
