Do you play WoW because there is no better alternative?

Id swap but still come back every patch.

Wow is the best mmorpg out right now yet id barely classify it as one.

I grew up on this game, spent more than half my life playing it.

At first I played it only because I enjoyed it, but now I play it because of many things, mainly because I enjoy it, but moreover because of friends, and that I’m too used to playing it :stuck_out_tongue:

These days i mostly just log on wow when i have raid/keynights. I have no reason to log on outside of that. I spend my other nights trying out new games, right now i’m testing ARK: survival evolved.

I’m playin wow since TBC
And since then i love GAMEPLAY (dungeons/raids/sometimes PVP)
I don’t care about story since MOP ended
There is no better feeling than speding time with people in dungeon or raid killing bosses be toxic to each other and laugh when we suck

I do like the world and the stories wow has there is no other mmo that has this interesting world.

I tried many other mmos over the years.

Warhammer online I really loved but sadly the game died because of incompetent management.

GW2 I like the game but the story just doesn’t grip me at all.

Everquest/ever quest 2 I find both of them just boring.

Eso I like the world but I really hate the combat and the game rubberbands more on one day than wow in 16 years.

STO is one game that I played the most after wow I like the game even with its problems but I hate the loot box gambling.

SWTOR I just got bored the stories never grabbed me really and generally the game was too linear.

GW1 I think I played it about 5-10 minutes before I got bored.

Tera online combat just bored me to death and anime stuff is just not my thing.

Games like BDO won’t run on my combuter really so can’t say if it was good or not because I am not trying to play action mmo with 10 fps.

So I would say yes haven’t found anything better than wow most mmos just don’t have as fun and rich lore and world as wow has and wows game play even its worst stage has been more fun than most mmos I have played except maybe STO space combat which I find fun as hell because all the customization it has.

I would rly love a new mmo that is similar with wow in regards to:

-grapichs
-fluidity of spells and chars

  • faction vs f pvp
    -good pve
  • new pvp modes
    -1v1 arenas
    -good music and lore
  • fun classes

Yes, i would switch in a heartbeat.

Hoping for riot mmo to be good or New World even if it doesnt check alot of boxes written above.

Both yes and no. I don’t think my heart can ever leave WoW, I have been playing it for over half my life (11-27) even if they stopped making new content I’d probably still play.

If there was a better alternative then yes, I would play that. However, I’d still come back to WoW even if I didn’t play it very much. I enjoy ESO and I liked GW2 until they catered to the hardcore crowd but I always come back.

I’d love a WoW single player game though.

A bit of both I suppose.
I won’t stick with WoW ā€˜no matter what’, but I’m willing to put up with a lot of its crap. As for other MMORPGs; I do play some from time to time, but they always fail to keep my interest for very long (usually just a single sub month for instance) and then I always go back to WoW in the end.

You want to leave wow for a game that’s like wow?

I play WoW because I like the cartoony graphics and the amazing variety of playable races, which in my opinion make the world richer. And also because I’ve a guild I enjoy.

That’s not to say that WoW is the only MMO I care about though. I’ll probably play Guild Wars 2 more once I get a new laptop. It’s a completely different MMO than WoW, and a good alternative for when I need a short break from WoW.

I play several diferent mmorpg’s and wow is one of them. It used to be better than others but hasn’t been for a long time. This is not just because some things have gotten worse in wow but also because some other games have turned better over the years. Wow is still a decent mmorpg and i keep playing it. If i would have to choose only on mmorpg i could play, today it would not be wow anymore.

Both.

I have tried several other WoW-like games and I didn’t really like any of them that much. Perhaps the real MMORPG genre I grew out of, but have too much history in WoW to sack this game.

But at some point soon I will reach a point where I find it not worth the sub money anymore. I know that paying for a subscription doesn’t grant you any rights, but I do expect frequent (game-breaking) bug fixes, class and content tuning, putting player-experience first, that they keep in mind that we should have fun, a bit more communication about issues, plans etc and so forth.

And when I reach that point I will prob hop out of this genre of games until a decent patch hits that fixes the issues (which I have, doesn’t mean everyone agrees).

I was a leauge refugee at start.
That game is a toxic PVP game - on the other hand , i can choose what to do here.
Leveling , questing , RPing , learning the lore , enjoying artstyle & game itself + Being a achievement hunter is so relaxing

I play WoW because I enjoy it. That’s the basic premise. It’s not a constant enjoyment and sometimes I have periods – short or long – where I don’t feel excited about WoW, so I don’t play it. But the interest has a way of coming back. I think it’s because I’m very invested in the lore and story and really appreciate the franchise as a nerdy hobby. It’s a bit like asking the long-time Star Wars fan if he ever intends to abandon Star Wars.

I do think, anticipate, and also hope, that my breaks from WoW will become longer and that I’ll play it more irregularly and less often in the future. I can definitely see myself just playing WoW by the end of an expansion and simply plowing through all the content and quitting again until the end of the next expansion. That’s sort of where I envision my approach to WoW in a few years.

For one simple reason.

Diablo.

I enjoy Warcraft, but I love Diablo.

And if Blizzard manages to create a Diablo game that has enough longevity to maintain my long-term interest, then that game will occupy just about all time I’d otherwise spend on WoW, like the moon eclipsing the sun.

And if Blizzard don’t manage to do that, then I hope some other company does. I am a gamer first and foremost, so I am always on the lookout for the next big thing. Just as WoW eclipsed my interest in Diablo II, so do I expect some other game to eventually eclipse my interest in WoW.

And in the super long term I suspect Blizzard will eventually ramp the WoW production down and shift their focus onto new installments in the Warcraft franchise and further the story through those.
At some point in time WoW will become a gaming relic that isn’t of relevance anymore.

So short term it’s longer breaks and more infrequent and condensed sessions.
Mid-term it’s hopefully Diablo that claims its rightful spot as the one true game for me.
And long-term I expect WoW with its mouse and keyboard to become a relic when we all get plugged into the Matrix and otherwise live in a world where gaming can be projected as a form of augmented reality in our real-life and we spend all our time with a digital J-pop anime waifu in an Asian romance game.

I quit wow for 15 months and only came back last June, between curfew confinement, working from home, It passes the time to play wow.
Currently curfew at 06:00 PM, I play mostly old content, transmog, mount battle pet, random BG
But as soon as we find a semblance of normal life bye bye wow.

I said a game that has similarities with wow , but improved systems.

If uā€d read with both eyes, would be
More clear to you what i stated

Have a nice day!

I play wow because I love the world. The music, the zone design, the enemies etc. is next level quality. I am also a collector and the only time I could see me permemantly quitting is if I had nothing left to strive for. So yeah I guess I am in for the long run.

Don’t know what I’d fill my spare time with if I didn’t play WoW to be honest.
I’ve never really played anything else as an adult.
I like the look of other games then I think about how much time I already sink into this one and don’t bother trying anything new.
I used to love the storylines and characters but I don’t really hold it all in the same regard anymore.

So I hope there will be something that’ll be good enough to lure me away one day.
But at the same time I doubt it will ever happen.
