That is true for the time being and if it wasn’t for my guild and now my friends playing I’d quit along time ago wow is a social experience for me i never play it solo if i ever did I’d cancel my sub in a heartbeat.
I went to WoW mostly to continue where W3 story left off. Story is important to me, and the poor writing in BfA and SL were a major aspect of my playtime dropping a lot. In Legion, I was subbed from start until the guild defeated Argus on HC. After that, we took a break (and eventually fell apart). With no more “community” to play with, my play time dropped to being subbed on-and-off with increasingly large breaks, and for SL, this is just my second month.
If not for tokens, I’d probably quit completely already and just give the monthly 13€ into reading e-books.
That said, any potential replacement would need to come with a good story premise. Maybe if there was a Witcher MMO, because Witcher 3 had a good story (despite the whole universe being a mash-up of Slavic mythology)…
Nah I’d say I play wow(classic) currently because I want to play wow not for the lack of anything better. Hell, my to play list is already ludicrously long and only getting longer. But wow have a way to focus my interest on solely it.
I play wow, because I made friends in that game, and they still play wow.
If they decided to leave for another game, I’d leave too.
I’m currently playing because of this. The quality of wow has dropped significantly in recent years and real competition still does not exist. From time to time I play other mmo games besides wow, for years. Wow is 3 light years ahead of other mmo games, even in its worst state. Also, I’m not optimistic about the new, upcoming mmo games. At the moment I’m thinking about changing the genre. Ahh, if, for example, Diablo 4 could come out soon… Without a doubt, I would switch to that game without looking back.
I play WoW and classic because i’m deeply addicted and since it so engraved into myself, Had sub since 2006.
I would rather play BnS or BDO.
But i just feel obliged and forced to play WoW.
Especially Classic WoW since i am in a guild and have gotten plenty of gear, So would feel wrong for the guild to lose all items spent on me if i quit.
Also considering classic is very bad after the initial rush, you don’t really wanna miss out of the launch hype, So the announcement of TBC is not a very joyful one and more of a forced chore.
I don’t know why i feel enjoyment from WoW while still feel it’s a shame that i can’t dedicate my time to the game i rather play.
Classic is probably the worst thing to come out for me, as i did actually manage to stay away from WoW and focus on BnS through most of 2018.
I feel more enjoyment from shadowlands than classic, Ever since Mid-AQ, Classic has felt like an obligation and responsibility and not something fun.
Especially since shadowlands, Farming gold for naxx consumes is really really daunting and annoying since i rather spend that time on other things.
I play other games as well…mmo and single player and various genres as well…
I play wow still, after a lot of years…like 15 years…
Because i like it, when i like it and whatever content i like. If i feel i’m bored or displeased from the game…i take a break till they release something that will attract my interest or valid fixes.
I may like the game, but can’t be into “the hype” or "fanboy-ing " or be fanatic about it.
Yes and for Pandas.
mostly playing it because wows combat system is my favorite, and dungeons are fun. don’t really care much about the RPG elements and storylines.
It’s a mix of no other game really replicating the ‘‘feel’’ of wow, like the actual pressing of your buttons, the movement, the tab targeting, it just feels good to play on a visceral level.
And of course a lot of sunk cost in time over the years.
I will not play another MMO.
I am too invested in WoW to drop it for another game of its kind.
But I keep playing less and less wow. Once I stop playing WoW completely it will be the end of MMOs for me
I would switch in a heartbeat if there was a pvp alternative that had some way fluid playstyle .
I tried SWTOR for a while but the engine is just to clunky.
Wow has a good feeling when it comes to fluid gameplay but the devs are just out of touch and wow is ruled by shareholders and not by people who want to deliver a good gaming experience
ofc i play because there is no alternative, the worst is wow is becoming a p2w game like all others, black desert online, lineage 2,guild wars, tera, blade and soul etc etc.if blizzard dont put a stop in boosting services, its even worse than p2w it becomes pay to others play for you xD
Yes, I will. I also found a somewhat better MMO-RPG in FF14
The problem is that thanks to my new schedule WoW works better for me due to M+.
But I will mostlikely test the new expansion and Ashes of Creation (because I test a lot of MMORPGs)
Mostly yes. If there will be better alternative i’m done with WoW. Not a huge fan of WoW, cuz their devs stuck in 90-s and think MMORPG should be alternative of real life or a second job. IF something changes, mb i will change my mind.
I would not play a « better » alternative quite simply because I am not willing to invest in an MMO a second time.
When I am finally bored of WoW I will stop playing but then it means any alternative would be boring too.
So either way for me it’s wow or nothing
try bdo the combat is so fast you’ll be dead before you know it
For me personally WoW has become a habit. I do not watch TV, only match of the day.
So far I feel happy enough in Azeroth. It’s entertaining me until it annoys which is usually after a couple of hours.
Very very seldom are the days now where I am online all day or even desire to be. But I think that is just me changing priorities in life as I get older. Other games can stay there because I do not feel the need for a new game and have to get used to it’s rules and different ways.
It is the best MMO in my opinion, which can be seen as both good and sad, and yes I did try FFonline, but I cringe every second of it and I just couldn’t, I just feel ill from the cookie cutter asian preferences looks of things, not for me…I’m so not into waifus.
And I guess in a lot of ways players like WoW but not Actiblizz, and we just sit here like “Look how they massacred my boy” kind of feels.
Many games today try to have some next gen graphics, WoW just sticks to this charming rough on the edges type of thing, as graphics don’t make a good game, just look how Valheim has exploded (I play it and I love it), I mean, there are other alternatives for WoW that are probably less legal, many does it though, but all probably wish Blizz themselves could do it, wasn’t that after all how the Classic servers came to be? We all want a legal version that is looked after, but it is frustrating when the legal version is basically telling you “you are the product give us money and we will never give you what you want”, but yet we stick around, hoping.
