Do you prefer Ny'alotha or Nathria?

I don’t know why but I found the bosses in Ny’alotha more fun than Nathria for some reason. The bosses were fast paced and it was usually a good time in a pug. Carapace was a visually awesome fight. Many fights were hectic but they didn’t feel overwhelming. In Nathria the mechanics just feel more frustrating than fun most of the time. LIke Inerva you spend the fight looking at container percentages. Compare that to the 4th boss in 8.3 Xanesh with the hilarious ball mechanic. I think Artificer and Sludgefist are good though.

Jury’s out.

Nya was eventually just brute-forced with corruptions and it didn’t feel as good as doing it properly.

Nathria has a lot of “personal failure wipes the raid” mechanics and that does make life hard. Someone gets hit by sonar, bad blood splatter, raid dies. Someone dots the bear at Huntsman, raid dies. Doesn’t position the adds right on Innerva, raid dies. Runs the wrong way at Generals, 6 people get the bleed, raid dies.

Everything in Nathria feels like Ra-Den and as a result it’s quite the difficulty jump.

Which I kind of like, but at the same time, I would like to see a bit more forgiveness in the mechanics such that 1-2 people having a bad day can be generally overcome by the rest of the raid. There’s a bit too much happening that can’t be compensated for by other people.

I think difficulty should come from racing the boss to 0% before players are at 0%, not from 1 person getting a lag spike and therefore we have to wipe.

Castle Nathria is lightyears better then Nya’lotha was. The bosses are harder and more interesting. Biggest plus is Sire, one of the best fights in a long time and really challenging. The loot system however, makes me miss Nyalotha with a burning passion.

Nya sucked hard.

Ny’alotha had a quest to go in there, that was either cluttering my quest log, or I had an annoying yellow ! every time I zoned into Magni’s place. I have not found such a quest for Nathria yet, which is awesome, because just like with the Ny’alotha quest, I’d never complete it.

This alone makes Nathria a whole lot better for me, even without seeing what’s inside!

Lots of biased opinions towards ny’alotha’s difficulty incoming.

People fail to realise that ny’alotha’s patch lasted for over 9 months. And ny’alotha got nerfed like 3 times ( Or twice? Can’t remember ) by pre-patch release aswell as getting tons of stuff that made it way easier to do towards the end ( Introduction of the echoes to buy specific corruption, ability to have way more corruption because of cloak cap increased every week, the increase of even WQ drops ilvl ).

Most people remember doing ny’alotha while being ilvl 475+ and having full corruptions stacks, lvl 3 essences and a lvl 75+ neck and just blasting through it.

They don’t remember doing heroic on the first few weeks of release where even having a single rank 3 TD would mean getting somewhere around 50-60 corruptions on yourself ontop of being extremely rare.

At the end of ny’alotha you could buy heroic BOEs with corruptions for like less than 50k depending on the corruption.

Nathria all day, every day.

Yes it was a pretty much a requirement to be 460+ for invite to a raid that dropped 460. Maybe that explains why it was “easier”, though it did have way less 1-shot mechanics.

It wasn’t really. It’s just that most groups towards the end were filled with half okayish players and big dps that had like infinite stars rank 9 or 8+ pieces of gear with rank 3 of a certain stat stacked.

Maut if you messed up and had a few dps dead the stoneskin phase was a wipe.
Skittra too during the big healing phase if a healer was down.
Xanesh, screw up the ritual OR the soccer and it’s instant wipe.
Vexiona if you dont kill the adds fast enough or dont properly stack during hearth of darkness was a wipe too.
Ra-den don’t even need to bother explaining, almost every mechanic is wipe if you don’t do it right.
Il’gynoth if dps are dead usualy the blood adds overwhelm you and it’s a wipe
Carapace didn’t have one shot mechanics per say but more like if you mess up mechanics early its over because you need to manage your sanity properly.

Both of them are amazing raids to be honest but as venthyr i tend to favor Castle a bit more due to the venthyr theme and the last boss that i found amazing.

Too bad i cant raid more in it, its really amazing!

I haven’t done CN, but Ny’alotha is the worst raid for a few expansions so if CN is even comparable to it I’m glad I haven’t set foot there

Don’t know if there was a single boss in Ny’alotha that I “enjoyed”. Probably Ra-den, that’s about it. Oh, the football boss was kinda cool. Rest can go straight to the garbage bin. In my opinion, the two are not even comparable. The only fight in Nathria that I don’t like is sun king, can’t really complain about the rest at all.

Well, I haven’t seen every boss on mythic yet, but it would be pretty difficult for the remaining 4 to change my opinion so drastically, since I like them on heroic. Also, massive minus points to Ny’alotha for having the worst expansion end-boss ever.

So far I like 'em both but I do prefer Nathria(so far, haven’t finished it yet) but mostly because of the characters. They’re fun and Sire Denathrious is just such a cool character while N’zoth was kinda meh, would’ve needed more build up.

Nyalotha is quite possibly the worst raid of all time

Heroic+ raider here (ie. I usually get Curve in a tier + a couple of the early Mythic bosses), I vastly prefer Nathria over Nyalotha.

Nyalotha had 12 bosses, that is really a lot… And it very obviously was too much for the design team. Xanesh was the worst kind of shallow gimmick fight. Nzoth was kinda hard, but a boring repetitive snoozefest. Ra’den had actual mechanics and was the only fight that felt like it was maybe designed by the same team that made Dazar’alor. The other nine bosses were glorified target dummies that required no execution beyond ‘no stand in bad’ and ‘switch to adds’. It felt more like a step up from Molten Core in Classic and not at all like a 2019-2020 raid.

Nathria has very little ‘punching bag’ bosses and most of the encounters will wipe you if you do them incorrectly and cannot be brute forced. At the same time, none of the wipe mechanics are dumb, bugged gimmicks like Xanesh. And don’t even get me started on the final boss. I haven’t done Denathrius Heroic, but while Denathrius Normal fel a bit easier than Nzoth Normal, it’s at least AN ACTUAL RAID FIGHT instead of whatever repetitive ‘cba to think of anything fun for the final super hyped old god so let’s make them kill the same add three times’ bullcrap Nzoth was. I’m honestly still mad about that fight, it was so uninspiring and boring and repetitive that I have trouble processing it was in the same game and same expansion as Jaina or Uunat or even Zekvoz. Half the freaking DUNGEON BOSSES in BfA were more creative, involved, interesting and fun than this piece of garbage.

Farming them juice Raden weps felt rewarding, the new raid is meh :expressionless:

Nah, far from it. There were some really bad raids in prior expansions. Trial of the Crusader, Dragon Soul or Heart of Fear just to name a few. Nyalotha was just average. Painfully average in fact, only Xanesh stood out for me with innovative mechanics. The rest is your standard stuff like overload of soak mechanics and many types of adds. Now if talking bosses alone, N’zoth ranks pretty high on bad bosses list, especially end bosses.

Nyalotha felt so uninspired, the design was so monotonous, the trash was probably one of the worst of all raids and the bosses had no real story tied to them. Like what was the purpose of Drest’agath or Maut anyway other than being loot bags?

Yeah, Xanesh was a fun fight but that’s probably it.

Castle Nathria on the other hand is basically the complete opposite.
This place is a freaking castle with a fantastic design and fun bosses which all have a logical reason to be there.

So yeah, it’s Nathria for me.
