Do You Read Quest Text

Do you ever read the quest text? Do you use an addon?

Or do you simply accept all and work it out when you get there?

I use an add-on called Storyline which animates the characters (like you see in scenarios) and chunks the text out while you do the quest.

You can replay it as well.

It’s a bit more immersive than the walls of text blizzard gives us.

Lord no, next you’ll be asking if I read the instructions for assembling ikea furniture or ask for directions and stuff.

I always read them first time around, skip them on alts.

AutoTurnIn addon.

Dont care about new “funny” lore for butterflyers.

Never read. Ever.

I use Immersive and read all quests, I’m not in a rush to lvl though, I enjoy the experience when I can.

With storyline quests I haven’t read before, absolutely. I rarely read them a second time on alts, unless I’m Timewalking in a zone I haven’t visited in several years.

Yes
Every quest to actually know and understand the story - the biggest mistake anyone could make to just scroll thrugh or just klcik accept THEN complain, WoW have no story, nor lore

Just TRP :two_hearts:

I read it the first time I do it.

Campaign stuff I do keep up with, or lore exposition which has you do a quest which explains a bunch of lore things about the area you’re in or the people you’re doing the quest for.

kill 10 boar quests don’t get read no

I like to read on my main but alts just accept and go.

I do.
But only the first time through a zone or Campaign (or if it’s been a while since I’ve done it).

I use one called Storyline.
It puts up a new window (although with settings it can put up the original Quest text window also) which shows an animated version of you and the NPC talking with the text split into paragraphs below. The text is larger and is white text on a dark background (which many, myself included, find easier to read). I was struggling to read the squiggly font on a yellow background and I used to go to Wowhead just to read the quest text.
I highly recommend this addon. It adds immersion whilst also improving readability.

When I first started to play the game I rarely read quest text - I’d just read the objectives section and go from there.

It was when I worked on The Loremaster achievement that I first started to read the quest text - and since then I’ve never went back when it comes to leveling/campaign/story quests. Obviously the weekly quests and the like I just ignore,

I personally now use the Immersion Addon - but I have also used Storyline in the past and both of those addons make it much easier to read and follow the quest text, and I highly recommend using one of them to anyone who uses addons.

I’ve always found the default quest box quite hard to concentrate on and follow, and IMO it could really benefit from a revamp.

Depends how many times Ive done it.

Always read the first couple of times though. In fact with DF I made the effort to really engage with the quests and properly immerse myself and Ive honestly never enjoyed an expansion more!
It feels like I really get my money’s worth that way!

mostly in retail but often i skip if its not a main quest.
in classic i use VoiceOver which is a gamechanger

i liked quests text in older addons. there was some interesting stories. and some was even funny like the story about hidden guy in the toilet.
but in df i clicked them all away. its mostly blabla that make no sense. i bet bot software writes them.

bzw. we dont need subs for most old content. only in bfa there is only 1 area possible. i chilled with my lvl 10 pala tank with 2h axe.

I start every expansion reading all quests untill not to long in when i start thinking nothing makes sense and i cant keep track of things anymore then i just stop
