I was wondering, I want to continue playing through the whole Pandaria and Pandaren expansion - whilst I realize that it would be significantly easier at max level, does the lack of any sort of challenge make the experience less immersive?
And also, does the world recognize that I’m trying to play through the lore / campaign at max level, or does it just randomly offer the quests without following the correct order of the campaign lore.
You mean, stopping your exp. (by talking to NPC X in the capital city) and finish the expansion ?
I was thinking myself of doing that, I guess higher than 50 you don’t get exp. anyways? But to finish an expansion completely without being overpowered, I would stick that the level where there’s still some form of challenge .
I would say, you don’t see there !'s on the map at max level e.g.
No… Get max level first and get geared them go through all lore and stuff. Dont suffer that way.
Reasons -
Scaling gives really bad experience.
Level 10 char is way more powerful then level 50 char.
No sense of progression.
Most of time you need kill 10 boars - for that you need to know lore or reason.
If there is old leveling system without level squish… I would definitely recommend stop xp until u finish zone.
Exactly! I get that it looked good on the paper, but the reality of it is terrible. It took away the sense of progression, and it’s demotivating to see yourself working just to become weaker…
At the end of the day it’s still a RPG and the fun comes from seeing your character getting stronger and stronger.
Although level scaling ruined that either way.
this char is locked at 47 never left the classic zones. before i do that i wanna compleet the most easy achievments.
loremaster for sw and darnassus
still missing a few dungeons and raids that i can easly solo.
my lw still needs a few recepies i hope to find
fishing skill etc is not at 300
is it all easy , yes but i have fun the little time i play the game ( isnt that the most important reason to play a game)
after i completed them then i go to outland and do the same there
Yes I do reccomend it if you want a meaningful experience instead of just oneshotting everything. Part of the fun is challenging yourself, only spamming one button as you experience a zone for the first time gets old pretty fast.
Personally I suggest freezing at level 49 as it is the highest level in which Chromie time is available.
Before Legion there wasn’t really a Campaign. There may be guides written on a particular route doing certain quests that might tell a coherent story for that expansion, google would find it.
Basically (pre-Legion) you wandered around and found quests and did them. Some of these quests would be linked to the main story of the expansion but mostly they were local stories related to that village or farmhouse.
Some expansions no longer have a complete story anymore either. The zones changed during the expansion, for example the Vale of Eternal Blossoms was lovely when we got there but the Sha destroyed it and now it’s ugly. There is no Zidormu to show you the lovely one (although there should be).
There is little point in stopping xp really, you won’t benefit from it in terms of which quests / story you will get. And the xp will stop naturally when you outlevel the zone and the mobs are grey.
If you dislike one-shotting mobs then maybe do it but that would be the only reason.
You can albeit it’s a tad annoying, you have to abandon the SL intro quest every time you want to switch.
I don’t think they’re talking about the campaign you think. Around Cataclysm zones started having more linear storylines, with each expansion it became less likely you could skip a chapter and move on to the next one. Sure the zones themselves were mostly self contained so unlike Shadowlands you could do them out of order or even in parallel if you were max level but otherwise there’s more of a narrative that you follow in later expansions and less wandering around looking for quest hubs.
