Does classic HC need a specific subscription?

I just renewed my sub. I renewed so i could play classic HC. It says i need active gametime to play. what am i missing here?
I can login to say lich king classic. I haven’t downloaded dragonflight but the account shows in good standing…

HC is included in the sub. Make sure you choose the correct game version, it should say classic Era. Then choose the hardcore tab on the realm selection screen when in-game

Thanks for the reply. However, I can login to WOTLK classic - make char or jump on a relm, but when i click on the ‘switch to hardcore realms’ button on the battle.net app, once I click play, goes to the launch screen and this is where i get the error. I don’t have a chance to get to the relm selection screen from there.

Never seen that switch to hardcore realms button. You need to start the wow classic era client.

I eveatually got it to work. I removed the authenticator and now can make a character. I have no idea why that worked.

when I click that button it switches to my US account which has no subscription. Make sure the right account is selected before starting the game.

If you ever played in another region the game might default to that region instead of the region you have a subscription in when you switch game versions. Make sure you have the correct “account” selected below the game version dropdown.

As others have said, you will need to select the correct account you have subscribed to.

So if you added gametime to WoW1 EU, then you must also start up WoW1 Classic (Not Wrath/WoTLK Dark blue client) and then in the bottom realm list, switch to Hardcore.

If its right, you will see at the moment 2 HC realms. Stitches and Nek’Rosh.

I’ve just had this issue, it was because when i went over the classic hc it had changed to US, once changed back to EU, no issues.
