Returning player, used to play horde but would rather play alliance now for the races aesthetically.

I noticed that on EU most servers are horde dominated with there only being like 1-2 alliance servers with any significant pop. I also heard they tore up a lot of barriers between the factions.

So, does it matter if i pick horde or alliance now or will I suffer due to a lower pop? I’m more interested in heroic raids and m+.

Oh and last time I heard alliance and horde characters cant understand each other anyway without elixir of tongues?

All true.

But both guilds and parties are now cross-realm and cross-faction. As an Alliance, you can join any guild from either faction on any realm. You can join every guild EU.

In Group Finder, you can join any group. Every group for every instance is mixed faction. Group chat, like guild chat, doesn’t get translated to Orcish or Common.

All this has been in effect just for a few weeks. It is working smoothly, with no technical problems, but it’s too soon to say how efficiently the population mixes.

In your situation, I would roll on Silvermoon or Ravencrest to base myself in an ALliance server, but look for guilds and groups anywhere.

The only thing that is a pain at present with mixed faction groups is that we still can not queue for normal/heroic/timewalking dungeons together, nor looking for raid. Higher difficulties work fine.

Do you know if Blizz has said anything about making Dungeon finder and such crossfaction at any point?

Are there any limitations realm wise with how crossfaction guilds and such work? I assume not.

Queued content is cross-faction, but you cannot queue for a dungeon as a cross-faction party. I’m not sure that will be a big thing for you if you are looking at HC and mid-tier M+ - you won’t be queueing for many Normal or Heroic dungeons alone, much less in a party!

I don’t know of any limitations on cross-faction guilds.

So, if I get this right…when I que for a random dungeon solo I can be matched crossfaction? Just wondering if I’m getting this right since I’ve never seen other faction in any of the content I’ve done.

No. It’s limited to your faction. What they meant to say was that all the content is doable (except for Battle for Dazar’alor) cross-faction, however queueable battlegrounds that aren’t rated, dungeons & raid finder are locked to your faction. You can just walk in with friends and do them if you like.

Are you kidding?! :sweat_smile: Every time the guild diplomacy achievement pops up, I have to remind myself that this is only managed by a small indie dev team and they didn’t have time to test cross-faction guilds before roll out.

But that’s the only issue though?( banks too, sadly) Considering all the issues TWW has, guilds are like the smallest problem currently.
