I watched this guide to see what FF14 pve is all about and my head is spinning! The fight seems to be a big IQ test. Do you think the average WoW player could handle this?

No game exists in a vacuum. You can even see Castle Nathria mechanics in this fight, so the WoW devs are definitely getting inspiration from somewhere.

WoW has most fluent combat in all the mmos i played.
you can literally shuffle poop story for 3 expansions straight and i still gonna play WoW for pvp and pve combat
So no i dont care about many flashing lights mechanics and DMB addons to compensate it, thats what keeps me from playing pve more. i want my human memory and senses vs pve boss. and thats it

Actually addons are banned in FF14 because the devs consider it a form of cheating. You need to pay attention to the boss’s cues to know what’s about to happen.

In WoW you can find many hidden flavors and references to other games, movies, etc, etc.

It’s complex but WoW also had complex fights. Looking at the video FF14 rather isn’t trying to be hard numerically like WoW mythic raids but mechanically. Instead of pushing for BiS gear and meta jobs this would put bigger emphasis on the player and not the class or pixels.
Why was my post reported? I’m a WoW player but it’s not like it’s a sin to be interested in what other MMOs are doing to see how WoW compares.

Anyone who is a WoW fan should WANT other MMOs to be good because competition breeds excellence, remember fear of not being top dog anymore is the greatest motivator.

So? Why am i not surprised that you dont know that WoWs raids are designed with addons in mind. This is literally a none argument. FF14 chose the approach where they force you to use their stuff whether you like it or not and then design the fights around it and Blizzard has decided to give us the freedom of doing whatever the beep we want with our UI (aside from some stuff that was completely over the top like the DBM radar) and then designed the fights around this arsenal of addons we players have developed. So the phrase “consider it a form of cheating” doesnt fly whatsoever in WoW if compared to WoW.
Because its breaking the forum code of conduct. Something you do on a regular basis anyway. Next to you leaving keys upon start ingame. Post in the proper sub forum.

finally someone who understands me! A lot of people seem to miss the fact that WoW has insanely fluent combat it is so incredibly pleasing to play that even in its worst incarnation it still craps on any other mmo there is. I’ve played FF14 for a good chunk of time and the biggest turn off for me was how clunky the combat and the movement in general is in comparison to WoW.

okey so what exactly is the same? can you make a list or something? im 3 min into the video and already bored out of my mind. except something with mirrors nothing seems to be the same.
and i mean, sure, even if they have similar mechanics you have to prove first that wow copied ff. if it just happens to have similar mechanics and thats it then thats a really weak argument. most mechanics arent that unique nor complex that noone else could ever think of them.
