Hey! I’d pretty much just like to know the thing I’ve asked about in the thread title. I’ve noticed that with double haste proc corruption and hero, I happen to accidentally hard-cast pyroblasts since I try to press them before my spells travel towards the boss. Does that mean I simply have too much haste, is it a fault of my wrong positioning, or do I just need to work with my combustion rotation?
Gcd has a cap of 1sec, it’s value will obviously decrease at this point. However its value also comes from reducting the cd on FB and it’s will still reduce fireball cast time.
I’m gueessig your talking about scorch rotation… or FB? Scorch has a very fast travel time though and FB is instant so it’s more likely caused by high latency spikes. I’ve had it a few time lately where my proc from FB is taking too long to appear. When your haste buffs are kicking in it only takes a fraction of a second of a delay to mess up your rotation.
I don’t know whether it’s my internet or the game bugging out.
I would advise against going for extremely high haste, as the play style forces you to be very reactive, however the more haste you have the less time you also have to react to a heating up proc etc. I’ve noticed that at high haste levels my gameplay has suffered a tiny bit, and some weird things have started taking place, for example I’ve recently found myself hard-casting pyro’s even though I was trying to use a hot streak.
This gets amplified with the distance you are from the boss and with the lag you experience. Here is why being closer to the boss is better at high haste: you don’t proc heating up UNTIL your fireball hits the target, and there is a travel time for FB. However, while your previous FB is still traveling, you should already be casting a new one. You need to hit fireblast in the window where your first FB lands before your second one is out already. With more haste this window is smaller, because your cast time gets so fast that your first FB might not even land before your second cast goes off.
Is ~125% haste with my corruption procs and hero a little bit too much, then?
Well, I have less than you and my haste is already affecting my gameplay negatively during heroism :P. Contrary to melee specs high haste is actually very anti-fun for a fire mage, and I couldn’t even imagine trying to execute a fb + scorch pyro pyro combo during combustion with that much haste.
Well, it’s a bit like playing the piano, I’ve heard. Take some piano lessons or buy a better keyboard!
Well, I think it’s more of the scorch cast being so fast that you can’t the fb correctly with all the lag and haste going around :P. I was logging our social 30 man raid today and jeez it was painful, fps went to 30 due to WoW being such a well optimized game that it can use a whopping 30% of my CPU and then I have all this haste on top of it. I might have started a couple pyro hardcasts by accident during the whole affair until the lag and the haste both calmed down a little.
‘FB’ is usually used as short for Fire Blast not Fireball. Everything you said is spot on but it was confusing to read for me lol. I actually have a weakarua warning for hardcasting pyros now cos it does happen to me a few times a fight.
If I play frost TV build on Maut I have a similar problem during TW, IV and Az dude where I end up queuing extra ILs.
Pardon me, it was pretty late when I wrote the whole text up. Completely even forgot what FB stood for, but when I was writing about fireballs it made sense (to me). As long as you got the point it’s fine
