Does iLvl Matter More Than Stats in PvP (arena)?

I’m fairly new to rated PvP.

Does higher iLvl gear matter, or secondary stats?

I need haste a lot as a rogue, and my highest iLvl gears don’t have haste at all. So I use my low gear to stack haste.

However, I’m losing health and a small amount of agility, and I read that Stamina and iLvl somehow matter in PvP, but I’m not sure if I should favor the secondary stats that I need over my higher iLvl gear.

It’s very confusing and I would appreciate an explanation.

Thank you.

I did some test myself with different gear (full opti/max ilvl etc…) and what I saw was that my pvp gear 398 actually full opti with socket best azerite traits is better than max ilvl around 410 I got.

You have to focus on getting the best azerite trait first with as much ilvl as you can but still the best trait.

Your primary stats and gear with socket is better than big ilvl one with terrible stats.
(if you got some cap, grab them first).

With that you should be fine and clearly see a difference.

Tbh nobody knows how it really works but I heard a lot on stream to do like that (ziqo told that to a follower) and I saw a difference around 2k dps with between 400 and 410 ilvl item so stats trait mattered a lot more than ilvl.

I agree, however sockets don’t apply in any rated pvp… Only in randoms…

But I’d definitely go with the better secondaries if it only sacrifices like 10 item levels, maybe 15 if it’s a massive best secondary increase

I don’t want to sound too sure of myself as I never paid close attention but still I’m quite sure you’re wrong. On the other hand it’s possible that leech, avoidance and such do not apply if they come from a proc on loot.

Again on ziqo’s stream someone ask him about socket and he says he same item, one with socket and another one without. The one with socket is better and you should go for socket item.

If you look at some r1 most of them got pretty much all item with socket so I guess it does work.

Edit Idk how to put a link with phone but if you look at wallirik for example he got near all items with socket.

100% sure they work mate you are completely wrong and what’s more sockets are count for 10-15 ilvl depending of secondary stats of the item.

They didn’t work in Legion but they Work in BfA. When you entered arena in Legion sockets were grayed out. In BfA they are not and trust me top PvP players tested them and they said they worked.

I wasn’t sure for the ilvl but that’s what I heard too around 10 15.

this is 100% false

Strange when you’re in any rated and look at you’re locked sockets they all say about being unusable

Suppose thinking about it, it could just be unuseable as in unable to re-socket… But saying unuseable when a gem is already locked reads to me that the gem isn’t useable

The way it’s been speculated, is that only primary stats are dynamically scaled, and secondary stats are statically scaled.

Gems work 100% in BfA. Checked, proved, confirmed. There is nothing to discuss - trust me.

I go by best traits and then get min secondary stats with socket=10-15ilvl but also take into account if it has bis secondary stats. Azerite pieces have a lot of sta though so if the trait is less important I ditch it for the 15ilvl increase
