Title. Asking because I was wondering if Vindicator wasn’t an appropriate Hero Spec name.
It would be very awkward to create a Vindicator sub-spec for Paladins, because “Retribution” is already translated by “Vindicte” in the French version if the game.
I think they could be used synonymously. We already have abilities that are referring to both Templars and Vindication.
I think the Archtype of a Templar is more grounded “profession”, while Vindicator is really just the verb becoming a noun. You could make the same argument for an Inquisitor hero spec.
Was not aware of this, but it makes sense then with Templar, as a Vindicator Retribution Paladin would be Vindicator Vindicte, which sounds weird yea
One should be careful when making use of words in the modern English language which happens to be 90% loanwords like how kettle and pot means the same thing.
That also true! And by that token I definitely agree Templar is a better choice, and would arguably be more of a blanket term for wanting to feel either like a Vindicator or a Blood Knight, so thumbs up for that!
Reason I thought of this was partially because a lot of titles and “classes” that were exclusive to certain races suddenly seemed on the table for everyone (Dark Ranger, Sentinel, San’layn come to mind), so I was wondering if there were any other of those that could still fit well in other classes.
Granted, I have my reservations on San’layn as a naming choice specifically, I’d personally prefer a more general descriptor, like an allusion to the Shadowlands factions, either Venthyr and/or Maldraxxians. Blood Baron sounds immensely cool, not that I have any idea what THAT would be mechanically. Blood constructs?
